British World Touring Car Championship 2013 - 31-33 Bahrain

The long wait is over and we finally finished Bahrain after two weeks of missed races.  Sandy's PC is still being transferred to a new body.  But Scot was able to return to the track to fill the 51% minimum we try to keep.  Hopefully after next week we'll be up to full human capacity.

Race 1:

Darrel and Scot qualified.  Darrel took the pole and Scot had to hang back with me.  He managed to get some fairly good times considering this track is nothing short of  absolutely demanding.  The start was pretty crazy as always but we all managed to keep going straight.  Halfway through the second lap, I caught up to Darrel where he was having to battle some traffic to hold the lead.  I took over going into one and he stayed close in second all the way to the end.  Scot fell on hard times as he blew a tire and had to get towed.  The rough desert road was not kind to the soft rubber of the #29.

Race 2:

Scot qualified up the order a bit, around mid pack while Darrel and I started things in the back.  Coming off of turn one, I ran into a mess of cars and got some damage that would keep my car fairly loose the entire race.  Darrel also had to put up a fight to keep climbing the order.  Scot discovered that damage was on a bit too late and ended up out again.  A race that would see us all qualifying for the third round.

Race 3:

Darrel on the pole again with Scot and I dead last.  Scot would succumb to yet another flat fairly early on but would return late in the race for a non-last finish.  Darrel had to work the car to stay on top for the first few laps while I struggled to make up ground after some harrowing racing through the pack.  Darrel had a large lead that I was slowly eating into but not at a rate fast enough to catch by the end.  Two laps to go, Darrel spins going through 1 and would have been OK if not for a nasty sand trap.  By the time he recovered, I was just passing for the lead.  We'd remain 1-2 for the rest of the race.

Now we move east into the Asia where we take on China's premier road course: Shanghai.  This track is used by F1 and WTCC alike and, while not as difficult as Bahrain to master, certainly provides for some thrilling challenges as only a Formula 1 course can.
