2020 Super Speedway Series - Round 4: Talladega

To the south the series goes, to drive the high banks of Alabama's famous track.

Race 1:

The 10 lap sprint started out with a tight pack at the front and a deadly Slab at the back, who took out several drivers without remorse.

A couple laps in, The Bear was running the high line when he suddenly was stuck on the wall.

When he finally broke loose, it was right into traffic.

Further up the track and a couple laps later, Mad Max came too close to the 17 through the corner.

The fallout was larger than Slab's previous incursions.

Now there was a 5 car breakaway at the front which contained 4 humans.

Tnadz tried to poke his way through some daylight on the bottom but Zack was closing the door and the two made contact, sending them down the field.

Webster was able to get going but Tnadz continued to be struck for half a lap, nearly coming across the track into Zolecki who was leading.

The 8 took another win, just ahead of The Egg who had another exciting finish.

Race 2:

With 29 laps to run, within a couple laps, Myhr got a bump while trying to keep his car down and got wiped out for the first caution.

The 8 and 23 stayed out while nearly everyone else came in to top off.

A few more laps later and Gut Slab was caught up in a race-ending wreck.  The second caution came and the two leaders still stayed out, trying to save fuel.

The track stayed green long enough afterwards that the duo had to come in.  The field was catching up and it was looking grim...

...when coming to the tri-oval, The Egg bopped a slowing driver in front of him.

It set off a chain reaction with a single car sliding out, bringing out the caution JUST after Zolecki and Webster crossed the line but before the rest of the field did so.  They were lucky and just had to speed around and catch the field, passing most of them to get right near the top again.

With under 10 to go, the 22 lost power and slowed up some of the field.

Causing another checkup-chain reaction.

This took out The Bear who had been working diligently to position himself for a run on the field at the end of the race.

With the white flag out, Tnadz went for a look on the inside of Webster on the back stretch.  Just behind him, The Egg was drafting Grove and just bumped him right as Tnadz was moving up the track, tossing him into the wall and taking him out.

It was again a familiar sight at the checkered flag with GB sweeping the round.
