British Trucks 2018: 13-14 Charlotte

The gold-rimmed speedway didn't hit the record DNF figures of fabled past races but it did have plenty of close racing and fantastic accidents.  Today's Twitch stream is brought to you by Eggland's Best.

Race 1:
The race started with much excitement.  Tnadz tried to pry open a whole through the front podium runners off the line while Gurton Buster tried to avoid the potential shrapnel and look for a hole on the inside.  Gut Slab, Egg and Hamilton all dove to the low side quickly to lock down that inside line.

Slab had a moment and drifted up towards Mel Collins almost having a moment out in front of Egg.

Tnadz finally pushed forward towards the lead and nearly got collected by Willis on the outside.  He moved back over to pull away from the potential accident and GB had backed out in anticipation, avoiding wrecking the lot of them.

As those two started battling for the lead, Egg was caught on the high side and bounced the wall with Anthony Hawkins.

Shortly after, Gut Slab had a slide after touching off the apron.

He almost gathered it up but was well caught out and getting hit.

Hamilton then almost followed exactly in his tracks and looped as well.

Instead of being timid, Myhr just blew through his two human compatriots.  There you go.

Coming to the line, GB had made a pass on Tnadz who also lost position to Paul Jones.

The next caution happened not long after as Hawkins squeezed Myhr off the corner and the Boost Mobile ride was spun.

A couple more were collected and Darrel Hamilton came across the grass catching some air.

By the next start, Buster was still holding the lead as Tnadz slipped back and The Egg was starting to move forward.

Tnadz then made a daring move to move up and change that.

But a slight wiggle brought hum slightly up out of line and it was enough to touch fenders with the 4 of Stevens and unload the rear of the truck.

As he was spinning up the track, Egg got into Goldstraw who was throwing anchors and the Egg got a crack.

And then again as the rest of the field followed through.

As the 34 rolled and the 13 got blasted head on by Pab, The Bear came onto the scene without any escape route and just dropped the brakes as hard as possible.

At this point, GB didn't have much pressure from his human contenders but he had his hands full keeping the rest of the top 5 at bay.

Damaged and off pace, Hamilton tried to stay out of the way.

That mostly worked but he did lose it on the apron.

After going green again, Myhr got hit by White off of four.

They spun across the line and the 61 was involved again!

Coming through the chaos, Egg barely managed his way through and came away with a scrape.

Something else also happened here.  I'm pretty sure Geoff was being a Dixon.

With a few laps left, GB had strong pressure from Lee Rogers but kept his tires tight to the apron.

And with a tenth separating the podium, Buster took another win, launching himself to the top of the points.

Slab also had a dramatic finish clipping past White to score just outside the top twenty.

Race 2:
From 34 to 67 laps, this time, still at 1x so fuel wouldn't be an issue but tire management would definitely be a factor.  Tnadz made a quick slip past the front line on the start while GB and Egg had to figure out how to cut down low.

After only a few laps, the field caught the Krispy Kreme truck and Mel Gibson gave a nudge to send him up the track.

Lee Rogers then gave him the stiff arm and sent Tnadz hard into the wall.

com
Coming off the wall, he was then hit by Smythe.

Tnadz stayed on the infield but the 06 came right back into the fray.

Evasive maneuvers were taken by all.

But weren't evasive enough.

From there Hamilton and Myhr came together in the most fantastic way.

Like a Space X rocket, they kept climbing higher into the air.  While Scot survived for a short while he ultimately died with Darrel.

At the line, GB and Egg were making moves to get out in front of as many competitors as possible.

But it wasn't high fives and handshakes after taking the caution as Tressel was sitting in the middle of the track.

The Egg only just made it past without incident.

He was about the last one as well as the rest of the field piled in.

Tnadz was in for new tires and repairs.

At the start, Egg and GB made it to the front and were going at it.

After many laps of relative pacing, GB came onto Smythe at a bad spot off the corner.  Egg took advantage and swung low for the lead.

Within a lap, however, the 8 was back into the top spot.

Meanwhile, Sandy had been making steady progress to the front when he fed the wheel too much to the right, contacting the wall.

Unfortunately, Stevens was right to his inside and they went for a ride.

The damage was minimal until Paulo Rocha came through and slammed Smith who was trying to wrangle his truck back under control.  That ended a strong top ten finish for the 21.

A little short of halfway, Egg played strategy and took 4 tires.

On the restart, he was flying up the field and was within the top 20 after one lap.

Many more laps later, Tnadz had also risen up the order and was just sitting on the podium.

Thanks to some traffic, he was able to make the pass and set sights on Buster.

Of course, Rogers was still charging and it would take another traffic jam to keep him at bay.  Thanks to the earlier collision with Smythe, he was a very effective pick at this point in the race.

Tnadz was even able to get a run on GB for the lead.

But the pass couldn't be completed and Strongbow was out in front again.

And that wasn't the only bad news as another wiggle got him into the same traffic that helped him before.

This allowed The Egg to make a stirring pass for second.

Once he was passed some lappers, it was a clear road to Buster and he was closing at a rate that would bring it down to the final lap.

But with 3 to go, Tnadz was tangled up in traffic again.

Caldas swept way up the track and pinned him to the wall.

And a large moment unfolded down the backstretch.

Had there been even one more lap, The Egg might have had a shot but hopelessly had to watch as his dramatic and well-timed run crumbled to a sad second place.

And Gurton Buster furthered his lead with yet another win.

The crew now takes aim at Texas where the wrecks will definitely be bigger.
