British World Touring Car Championship 2013 - 65-67 Papyrus

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.  It was destructive and triumphant.  We destroyed and were destroyed.  We were online, we were offline.  We were rightside up, we were upside down.  We were on the track, we were off the track.  We ran along the walls, we ran through the grass.  We hit allies and enemies alike.  There was laughter and cursing.  Darrel was loud, Chad was quiet.  A good long series at an end and we are far far better drivers now, than we ever were before.  OK, you can stop laughing now.  The BWTCC 2013 comes to a close and we all managed to pull some amazing feats out of these races, or not.  I will note that there will be no more videos from this series as I simply just don't have the time and energy to continue them.  I will, however, make more videos, but they will likely just be highlights at the end or throughout.  One last thing of note, Odie ran his first successful race with us.  And did amazingly well.  I will note that he had no cheats, hardly any prior experience (unless you count 10 years ago when he originally played NR2k3), and very little practice on this track, much less with this series and these types of drivers.  We also ran at 100%.  I think Odie has proven he can be a contender.  So be sure to give him hell.

I will create a new post detailing the upcoming series.  For now, let us review the final results.  If you go to the current standings page, you can see how we finished in the points.  Note, these points now include the additional points for missed races, based on average finishes for the series.  Also check out the current season stats for a synopsis on individual driver results.  And now, the end.

Race 1: We all qualified but a server crash caused things to start off not so good for us.  Early on Darrel took a tumble and went upside down, causing him to be laps down.  But he wouldn't stay there as he would eventually pass Scot who downshifted and over revved his engine.  Sandy and I struggled at the back with idiot AIs who couldn't keep their damn cars out of the way.  Odie did quite well and despite a 38th ran well up the order for most of the race.

Race 2: Now with damage on, things were interesting.  I qualified second and was running with Mansell at the front.  Thinking there was more room (and the spotter not telling me I was 3 wide) I started coming down and Mansell held his line.  This caused an immediate wreck in front of the field.  Most of us were relatively unharmed but not 100%.  Scot had the worst with damage from raining cars and would hover around the back but not out.  Darrel and I managed to recover and pushed through the grid with Sandy close in tow.  Odie became the victim of some reckless AIs but still finished a respectable 28th.  Darrel took the win with me just outside the top 5 and able to qualify for the final.  Sandy placed a smug 8th after keeping cool and working the field.

Race 3: The grande finale.  I hoped the start and quickly went from 6th to the front where I would stay until the end.  T Bear and Gilbert would suffer through yet more overly aggressive computers but still finish out in the low/mid 20s.  Darrel managed to fight into the lower teens while Scot took an impressive 10th after avoiding calamity.  I will point out that no humans were officially listed as retired for this last venue...even though Scot technically killed his engine.

Also I wish to make a special note of Scot:  He will no longer be known as the Outlaw as that title will not befit him.  As of this past weekend, he proposed to Becky Lund on her birthday.  Congratulations to you, Scot.  And since it feels strange calling you the Inlaw, I will just call you, the Law.
