British Trucks 2018: 21-22 Chicagoland

Once again, technical issues were abound.  This time, it appeared to be net related as The Egg and Gurton Buster were suffering the most from the ill-effects.  The situation was so bad in Race 1 that it will be officially dropped from the points table and not calculated.  Not that Race 2 held much more promise...

Race 2:

Things started promisingly enough with Webster, Egg and Tnadz right in the front.

Zack had an early dive for the lead while Tnadz tried to hold the center.  The Egg was keeping an eye on the low side to take advantage within a lap.

By turn three, everything disintegrated.  The Egg was turned down by an over-anxious Lee Rogers.  Simultaneously in the background...

...GB took a bit of a dive and collected Rebrov and Hillsehiem.  This may have been due to a network flicker.

But the result was damaged trucks.

Even those who escaped, didn't escape.  Tnadz was turned by Tressler into Paul Jones and Webster also got a tip into the infield by Hawkins.

Tnadz was further impacted by AI and then by Buster as he dove to avoid.

After the restart, Slab, Egg and Bear were fighting up through the pack.  Slab actually avoided getting any real damage from the starting slaughter.

It wasn't too long before there was more trouble.  As the leaders came to put GB a lap down, they tripped over some other lappers and dominoed together.

Zack, who had been leading, is in this mess somewhere as more are collected.

On the next restart, the field broke into two masses.

In the second mass, Gut Slab was tired of waiting for the 20 to get out of his way and helped him along.

This did not, in fact, help Webster who was caught in the aftermath.

On the restart, Tnadz had the lead but wouldn't hold it for long with his damaged truck.

Another couple laps and Egg helped bring out another yellow by taking the 65 of Willis around.

With fuel required, most of the field came in.  Although a few humans stayed out to stay ahead of the maelstrom.

With Webster back on top, The Egg, The Bear and The Slab were all chasing him around some lappers and other top runners.

Despite his efforts, Sandy got sandwiched and taken around by Harris and others.

He was further assaulted by backmarkers.

As was Tnadz who took a bumper- and hip-check from Jones, getting tossed into the 43 coming to the caution and severely damaging his engine.

When the green flag waved, the battle flared back up again between Webster and Egg with Gut Slab not far behind. 

However, used tires and busted trucks weren't fast enough to keep the contenders at bay and the trio started to slowly slide backwards.

With a few to go, Slab was defending against a 3-wide row when he was eventually turned by Hawkins.

Even while crashing, he managed to roll, and eventually kill, the 98.

While not what it could of been, it was a lot better for some than it might have been.  Egg managed to hold off a hard charging Webster for 6th and 7th respectively while Slab wasn't far behind.  The Bear managed a top 20 as well with Tnadz just shy of serious points.  The only human DNF was GB in a rare drop from damage and probably other technical issues.

Next week is Kentucky with a Day-to-Night transition.  Here's hoping to less net issues.
