Race 1:
Nearly all of us were up at the front for the start. Those who weren't quickly moved up.
The first yellow actually came out when the AI got scuppered up on themselves.
When we were going again, Zack was quickly catching me.
But another yellow wasn't far as pitters were haphazardly returning to the racing surface.
Zack just barely missed.
Chad bounced his way through but was mostly unscathed.
Darrel did his best to spear the whole thing.
Sandy got knocked around trying to avoid the situation by Mica in the 98.
When we did get going again, all the humans were running the front.
We had several green flag laps when Darrel moved the 001 out of the way.
This yellow was the weirdest so far as the pace van did not come back in.
Another few laps of green and Chad took out the 78.
By this point we were within our pit window so most of the humans came in.
On the green I moved lappers out of my way to strike at the front.
Zack tried the same gap but the 22 quickly tried to close it on him.
And it sent him into the wall.
On the next racing run, Darrel was fighting traffic hard.
As the field stacked up behind him, they started piling up.
This yellow was worse than the pace van being out as we had two rows of lap cars on the inside.
Darrel once again had to deal with several slow cars side by side and bounced the wall coming off the corner.
Like the Newton balls, the 03 got shuffled off.
And there was still plenty of wrecking happening up the track which Darrel just barely missed. Days of Thunder style...
But he couldn't miss them all and eventually got knocked around by the Petty duo.
Hmmm, seems Sandy was busy also...
Under green, Scot was pouring on the pressure when Darrel spun from a damaged ride.
With the last 10 laps of the race, I held him off and we took it 1, 2.
Race 2:
Race 2 started a little differently but still mostly humans in the front.
And it didn't take any time before things started getting tricky. Zack pulled to the high side, supposedly to avoid me and it caused a collision with Sandy.
That wouldn't have been so bad but the rest of the field was right there.
Sandy kept going but Chad did not as he was wrapped right into it.
Like a freaking burrito.
The first restart was more exciting than the start. Darrel had to deal with some lappers
I was keeping an eye on Zack since he got a big launch on the start...
...and didn't see that Darrel was pulling way down to swing past the lappers.
I was carrying full speed into the corner and shot straight to the bottom. Had Zack not checked up, it likely would have been the end for us all.
Even still, it took everything I had to keep from wrecking while bouncing off of the 78.
Scot was also having problems back in the back.
But held onto it and kept it off the wall.
Ultimately, Chad brought out the yellow as the 51 of Rowdy Burns slammed him.
Chad then crushed the 55.
On the next restart, Chad went to dive inside of the 17 when he caught his bumper.
All would have been fine if the 1 hadn't been knocked into and off of the wall and back into Chad.
Chad actually kept it going straight but was blasting straight into turn one.
And a big ol' mess happened.
Sandy just managed to tuck inside and miss the conflagration.
Chad was not out though. And he was turning into Hulksmash Chad.
He sought out those who did him wrong.
Every car that had contact with him.
And I guess anyone he could find.
Yes, nearly everyone.
Even the same ones.
He finally ran up to the front and smashed into me. After that he rage quit. Certainly understand the frustration since he was running in the top 5 in the first race and his game quit in a way he couldn't come back: DNS. Too bad.
And to top it off, the pace van was out racing with us again.
Darrel had a run in with the Grave Digger as GD went diving for the pits in front of him.
He then threw it into reverse and slammed Tow Mater.
In the pit window, some of us came in for fuel and tires.
Zack was hardly in his stall.
And then started reversing into traffic.
Specifically me. Though there wasn't any contact so no harm done.
On the restart, Scot had the lead.
I was a few spots back but fighting through the field.
Then Darrel knocked out the 74.
And he didn't stop.
With the few green laps we had, I finally caught Scot.
But there was trouble within laps.
Zack was just out of position and slowed up a tiny bit but it was enough for the 55 to throw him into the mess he was avoiding.
Sandy managed to squeak by.
But he wasn't out of the woods yet. Coming to the line, Unser was taking Mica out right in front of him.
We got going and Darrel immediately ran over Grave Digger.
Going green and we have about 5 laps of green. It would come right down to the end.
Oh wait, except Zack ended up taking out Mica and bringing out the final yellow.
Which we finished the 75 lap race under. We celebrated in usual style.
