A ripping couple of races at the penultimate dirt track of Lebanon. Fast and dusty.
Race 1:
Race 1 was a 25 lap sprint with Tnadz and GB at the front with Egg and Webster not far behind.
The Egg was having fun mid pack as Darrel sent Ingram pushing up high to help McDuffy make an Egg sandwich.
Egg would have the last laugh as the 05 caught his rear end, self spinning into oblivion.
From then on to the rest of the race, the 034 was carefully attempting a pass around Hamilton, trying to time it right without spinning the recent septuagenarian.
But his courteous driving would not be as rewarding as the U Haul ride barely squeaked ahead on the final lap. Gut Slab managed to close in just in time to see the exciting conclusion.
A few places ahead, Tnadz had stolen the win and our hearts by holding first ahead of a persistent Zolecki.
Race 2:
The second 25 lap sprint started in nearly identical proportions with Tnadz and Zolecki actually tying for the pole (Smith taking it by virtue of joining the server first?). However, The Egg was within striking distance and was taking the latex rubber gloves off (and on) for this round.
While Race 1 went caution-free through some divine intervention, thus would not be the case on the second pass. Hamilton cooked it into the side of McDuffy, sending him off into the pasture.
The next caution came when several drivers attempted to make it onto pit road and instead got scared and confused, deciding instead to just stop and have a cookout with the pit board guy.
On the restart, Zolecki got a startling hip check while trying to hold the outside line.
He was then in a bad spot as the 21 and 023 of Webster came slicing across his nose on the backstretch.
Things went from bad to worse when Zack realized he had an entire carton of eggs (no relation) still in the trunk as he went end over end.
Hamilton later on was rammed by Saylor and sent around.
As he was resorting his life, Slab barely slipped by on the outside coming to the line.
With Jamie out of the picture and The Egg dealing with traffic, Tnadz was free to take another victory like that give-a-penny-leave-a-penny thing at the store checkout.
Race 3:
The main event started a little differently but it was the usual suspects at the front.
The two human hot rods split Earnhardt like a check at a fancy restaurant and drag raced away with Zolecki only yielding to keep from killing Tnadz.
Back in the field, Hamilton was hamming it up next to Slab, taking out the 50 for an early caution.
Pit road became a very busy place, except for humans. Unfortunately, this had the effect of throwing different strategies (at least compared to AI) out the window.
It also caused havoc at the front because there was an abundance of lap cars which became Smith's downfall on several subsequent restarts.
Slab and Sandy didn't want him to feel bad so they joined in on the wrecking magic. But how'd they get there?
Ingram sent Slab a slabbing into the wall.
And back behind, Harry Gant caused Hamilton to get squirrely which made Sandy go evasive.
Gurton Buster similarly had some issues with lappers as McDuffy came back from the dead to ramrod him through the corner.
He took some good knocks but kept the engine running...for now.
Meanwhile, Slab was working his way through the field and going to war with Labonte.
Suddenly, just ahead of him, Hamilton had sent Ingram up the track into Smith while the 05 was being turned around in front of them. Keep in mind this is all after taking the caution.
And the Bear was around.
Slab was just now resolving his conflict and taking care of the 21.
Which nearly took out the 021.
That wouldn't be the last time this Wood Brothers ride would make an appearance. The Egg was simply trying to drive his race and make up places when his race was run a muck.
The damage was swift and devastating. The Bear again showed some compassion and spun himself.
About a 2/3 of the way through or so and Webster had pulled into the lead with Tnadz and Darrel right behind.
Suddenly, Webster had a moment.
And then Zolecki had a moment (see? remember when I said "yet"?)
Sandy also had engine problems and would have to retire.
But the guy who got him in that position wouldn't get away Scot Free (please free Scot from work). No, the 061 was coming out of four when he ran wide into the tricky section of the wall and went airborne. Somehow, still alive for a little while.
Webster was back leading again as Tnadz was spun in the background. Now Egg was also back up into podium position.
Eventually he'd get up into first with Smith trying to dig himself out of lappers.
Instead, he dug into the side of Saylor and whipped around with minimal damage.
While pressing on, however, The Egg got entangled.
He eventually Lego's my Eggo...
...but it was curtains for him. Possibly meat curtains.
Through some odd twists and several lapped cars, Tnadz was back to the front with Webster tucked in behind.
While he did what he could with what was left of his car, Zack slipped back one spot to 3rd by the last lap.
Ross then swept the night with a 3rd win in the Feature. Someone buy that guy a beer.
