Twisted Metal Tour 2011 - 1-3 Raleigh

The season has started.  And what a start it was.  After a little freezing on the computer's part, we managed to get all 3 races in without a hitch.  Heat 1 got things cooking and caused us to finish all over the place.  Darrel and I bounced off of each other quite a bit and eventually took spots back in the field (oddly showing me down a lap).  Chad and Sandy fared better, placing in the top 10.  Heat 2 continued the carnage and saw the first human win of the season from Darrel, with me close behind by less than a second.  Scot fell prey to another set of cross-over crashes while Chad and Sandy tried to...delicately pick through the field.  The Main race doubled the laps to 20 and brought out the best beast in all of us.  Darrel and I had some run ins at the start as Scot got caught in some early pushing.  This threw us all out of sorts but ended up getting Scot in yet another precarious situation.  Chad and Sandy continued to play strategically and wait for the weeding-out process to work.  Chad eventually had some troubles that killed his motor, sticking him with a 12th place finish.  Sandy managed to stay through and place a respectable 6th.  Darrel and I switched positions from the previous race as he managed to beat, pummel and smash his way into second.  But there wasn't quite enough time for him to catch me before the checkers fell and I took the second human win of the season.

Update:  I realized I didn't post the point system in the season opening post.  I have since edited the original so there is a reference, but also make mention here:

15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 points to the top 10 finishers.
One additional point will be awarded to each driver that leads a lap. One additional point will be awarded to the driver who starts on the pole position.  3 additional points are awarded to the winner of each main event.

Next race is the Carolina Jump track by Carolina Wreckers.  No damage, so beat the snot out of anyone who gets near you.
