British World Touring Car Championship 2013 - 40-42 Surfer's Paradise

It's been a long time coming but the gang's all here for the final rounds on the Eastern Continents.  Surfer's Paradise is also the only permanent street circuit we'll race on.  Which means, there were a lot of walls.  Hard, unforgiving, walls.  I will say that it was good to have Chad and Sandy back after a long hiatus.

Race 1:
Many of us spread throughout the field.  Darrel on pole and many of us pack a bit.  Scot had to just drop straight into the race with no practice, not even qualifying thanks to some technical issue.  Not bad on the first run.  Lots of carnage, I couldn't catch Darrel.  Chad had a lot of flat tires.  Mr. Goodyear should be seeing a check next week.

Race 2:
Darrel and I were at the back this time while Scot, Chad, and Sandy were staggered up to mid pack.  The start was nothing short of a fur ball.  We all had our fair share of spills and excitement.  By the end he managed to finish 4th, just off the podium.  Not as good a race for others as some of the early-on abuse took its toll.

Race 3:
Another fine start with the need for a quick restart after I took out the back of Darrel's car before the green dropped.  Fortunately we got things going fine after that and there was a ton of wrecking.   I struggled to stay behind Scot as he acted as a "plow" through the spinning, swirling destruction.  Though that didn't necessarily make things safe for me.  We actually were bumper to bumper for a large part of the race, working through the field, until some nit wit turned me into a wall coming out of a grassy turn down there.  For a bit Scot was well ahead and still gaining spots until he took one too many hard slams into corner walls and hurt the engine bad.  He still managed to stay alive and even had a 15th.  Not bad at all, though I'm curious to see how he does with the cheats turned off...

We now travel to North America for the final 3rd and last 9 venues of the series.  First stop: Mexico City.  A familiar yet more relaxed course.
