As we begin to spiral in on our last races, we visit a track that's close to home at Cleveland Airport. Certainly one of the flatest tracks we've been to, maybe even more so than Surfer's Paradise. It was definitely the widest and required a whole different approach to the corners.
Race 1: The start was insane going through the first few turns with plenty of bumping and bashing as seen in the first two stills. Sandy would struggle a bit after some shifty maneuvering by advantageous AI and would land back in the 30s. I managed to cut through the field early to stay at the front while Scot slowly wound his way into second before the end. Fuel was almost an issue, but turned out to be OK. Oh that last pic was a close call by me diving in front of Sandy just before the end of his race. I managed to only just clip him but it would be trouble for Tim Harvey. Tough luck, Tim.
Race 2: Another great start with all humans towards the back. I got a little out of shape after some AI cut left to line up for turn one. That caused me to turn someone right in front of Scot (img 1). Fortunately it was but a graze. Unfortunately it wouldn't be my last moment. Next lap around I got caught on Leslie heading through the sharp turn 3 which set me dead center of the track. Thompson just crushed me (img 2). I thought I was dead so didn't try too hard from there on but the car held together. I was well behind the field by that point and had a just-barely-not-last result. Sandy managed to improve quite a bit to see 30th after several spinners and Scot took his first win (img 3).
Race 3: Once again all humans to the back. A cataclysmic start for some AI going through 1. I was rather unsportsmanlike and did not break soon enough, causing several drivers to get caught out. Scot pulled on by and from there on it was a daring match of vehicular hot-potato with us and traffic (img 1). We sorted ourselves out and pretty much stayed 1-2 through the end once we made it to position. Sandy had a strong run and pushed to the top 10. But it would be a break in concentration with a back-marker that would be his downfall (img 2). Fortunately, he recovered enough to earn a 15th and get additional points. We all celebrated with a terrific crash (img 3) that actually cost Scot a lap. I made sure to convince the BTCC that he was not at fault.
Now we move to the east coast-ish track of VIR: a Darrel favorite.
