Sandy and I started on the front line but the opposition was very fast off. I managed to get shoved up high along with my fellow 21 but he got the raw deal bouncing off the wall out of two and slamming Ambrose. Sandy was alright while Ambrose got thrown around bringing our first caution out.
The next yellow came out immediately after Menard ran tight through turn three, collecting Stewart and Patrick.
Went green with Sandy and Chad back in the pack, more from their own choosing and me at the front. We actually got a long set of laps in when suddenly...
Chad got impatient. Kvapil took a fast exit into the turn three wall. Chad's timing couldn't have been better as it hit right on the fuel window.
No good deed goes unpunished. On the start, Chad was immediately run over after spinning his tires. At least he got a lead lap in.
Not to be left out, Stremme turned Sandy around with the one to go before green. NASCAR decided to run a couple more under yellow. Just so everyone could calm down.
And with less than 20 to go, the inevitable happened. Going into turn four, Kenseth gave me a brake check. I ran it up the track to save the car but bounced off the wall hard. I cam back down the track too much for Jeff Burton's taste and he blasted me. The rest was about what you'd expect.
Hit several times and destroyed.
I wasn't alone. Chad and Sandy came up on the chaos and couldn't see that the track was completely blocked. It would be the end for us all.
All things considered, we didn't do half bad, ranging up from 19th through the mid 20s. We at least made it that far with 30 DNFs. Perhaps Darlington will be kinder to us...perhaps.
