Qualifying went like disaster with most starting in the back and Sandy and I starting midfield.
We got about a lap in before Ambrose dropped anchors in front of me thanks to a dim witted Menard. Not a large pile up unfortunately.
The next caution came a few more laps after resuming racing when Darrel spun.
He was avoiding the idiot that was putting me in the wall.
A short while later, Scot got caught on Labonte...
And got wrecked by Almirola. He was down but not out.
It was this caution that Biffle came flying up and hit me at just under 150mph. If I hadn't been there he would have railed the next guy. Lucky me. Oh wait, he still did hit the next guy and the one after that.
With all of us but Chad at the back of the field, Chad was working some magic and hip-checked Kahne into the wall.
Kahne mostly recovered but Kesolwski was nicked by McMurray...
And the wreck started.
Even with warning and slowing down, Darrel, Sandy and I were still involved.
Just shy of halfway and Chad went to go pass me. He called the inside line and I gave him to much room because I bounced off of the wall going through the tri-oval.
Thanks to NASCAR's quick reflexes, the yellow didn't come out and I got smashed by the field.
To bits
It was only a few laps later after we were under green when Scot's engine blowed up.
He also had a run-in with the field. As did Darrel, although the 061 managed to pull away while the Crash Test Dummies machine did not.
The next caution came when Sandy was overtaking the 88 of Mr. NASCAR himself.
His arch of a line left him vulnerable to Jr's and nose met fender. Minimal damage.
On the restart Chad was back at the front and keeping them at bay with deft skill until McMurray caught him out while coming towards the line.
The wreck was slim yet elegant.
Closing in on the last twenty laps or so and a bunch of drivers were running together off of 4 when they got too bunched.
Darrel dove low as the mess happened right in front of him.
He escaped while Menard did not.
Sandy also made a daring run up the inside through the grass to avoid collision.
It must have been cold tires or something because after they got back underway racing, Darrel stepped out and got loose.
After restarting with only a few laps left, Darrel got shoved low and managed to hold on as he ducked through the grass.
He later took Earnhardt to the fence, ending the day for the 88. We're so sad.
In the end it was Edwards who clinched his spot in the next round.
I've reset the points so they now reflect what NASCAR seems to be doing. Although they may change by next week. Who knows?
