Pot Luck 2015 - 11-12 Invisible

A little behind lately coming up to the holidays so we'll have a double post weekend.  First we'll take a brief look at how we did at Invisible.  Short field as Darrel declined to race on such a silly track and it ended up being a demolition version as I couldn't get the field to cooperate properly.  Not that this would have been much of a regular race anyway.  Where else but the Pot Luck series...  Two 56 lappers on the board:

Race 1:

Zack, myself and The Bear started at the front of this crazy thing.

Scot was about mid pack-ish and quickly ran into trouble on the first lap jump.

Even though he rolled his car, he kept going.

Only to succumb a lap later by driving too far to the left through the infield.

That put him right in the middle of the track where he was hit...

...again...

...and again...

...and again...

...and again...

...until final he came to rest with cars flying all around him.  A natural place to be...

Sandy didn't fare much better as he was spun two laps in by Jacque Villeneuve.

He rolled through the infield and died in a less spectacular fashion.

Zack was leading the charge when he was spun off of 4 by Ralph Schumacher.

Even though I was having troubles myself with traffic, Zack's spin allowed me to pull up.

We were then running nose to tail for half the race.

Almost at lap 30, there was a wreck in 1 where cars started sliding down the track.  Zack got their early and barely tucked inside.

I came on scene and was too far up the track...

A ruined motor and front tire came from the clip.

Zack was strolling away with the win when, with 10 to go, he came up on a nasty wreck.

He got jostled...

And came right back down into traffic where he would eventually die.  No humans to finish here.

Race 2:

Second verse, same as the first as we start a shorter, 28 lap race.

Scot was in the back but more strategically laid way back for the predictable crash at the jump.  This time, he was ready.

I was holding the lead early when I scraped the wall off of the jump.

That tiny imbalance combined with the high grip caused me to spin and relinquish the lead to Zack.

All this allowed Sandy to catch up and the field wadded as they anticipated me.  Bear gave a hearty hip check to his harassers.

Taking them well up the track...

...and causing a magnificent wreck that I was sadly in the midst of (don't worry, I was OK).

Scot, was doing his thing and watching the wrecks unfurl around him while he just strolled on through.

But he did have a moment when he came off the corner and lost a bit of control.

That did some serious damage to his car but he kept rolling.

Then, about lap 4, Zack had a moment and threw the anchors while a wreck happened around him.

And then disaster...

He came to a stop on the infield...dead.  A painful season continues.

I was starting to catch Bear when I got stuck in the middle of three wide and a slow car was right on the other side of the jump.

The resulting wreck got exciting.

 The Bear and Max came upon me and things got tricky.  Bear slowed and stayed inside.  Scot, however, is the car spinning across the front there.

As he came to the wreck he clipped a car and took serious damage.

Fortunately he was able to affect repairs.

As was I, although my engine would quit before then end.

Bear had another moment when he touched on the grass while running in the top ten and on point for a great finish.

That sent him sailing into the wall.

And his hopes and dreams...

...were dashed.

Scot went on to be the only finishing human.  Back in about 15th but still alive.  Points is points.
