The penultimate set of races were absolute stunners. The season has come to a head and it will all come down to the final round. But first how we got there.
Race 1:
With no damage and 50 laps, it was a serious workout navigating traffic and bodies. The Egg managed to get towards the front early and stay there, lapping the field by midway and nearly holding that advantage all the way to the end where Tnadz unlapped himself and came within several seconds of striking for the top. It was still an all Egg Show. Except when his teammate was trying to touch the sky:
Race 2:
With damage on, all bets were off. Even with 25 laps, it was a crazy chase through the field. Tnadz managed to hold it together through the worst of it and take the lead from the Bruins with only a couple to go, scoring the victory and more needed points to keep his team with a solid points lead, especially after Know U 2 had a disagreement about track space among the team.
Race 3:
Race 3, things started looking sour for the Black Smiths. Lap 3 for The Bear and he was spun off of 4. Trying to dive to the relative safety of the inside wall proved fatal as his teammate was the only one on the low side of the track, ready to embrace his slow moving car.
Despite valiant and effect efforts to take down the competition, The Bear eventually succumbed to his injuries.
Suddenly it was a perfect storm with only a few cars left Gut Slab started making efforts to get the X Factors up to the top. Eventually the Cowboys were crushed out of 1st place and the Hoosiers and Hurricanes were topping the charts.
A courageous attempt to take both out before the end was all for not as the Hoosiers came through with the win and the Hurricanes were still right there at the finish. The X Factors had prevailed.
So the cushy lead that was held by The Black Smiths at the end of the night evaporated like an ice cube in the desert. Know U 2 has reclaimed the top spot by two points ahead of 3 other teams going into the final round. I don't think there has been a closer gap at the end of a championship. But there's still much on the line and much to be decided. Only one week left to find out.
