British World Touring Car Championship 2013 - 16-18 Snetterton

After a week off, we came back for a stint at Snetterton, another old airport, with the Bomb Hole turn!  Practice started late as I spent time fixing my phone and helping Chad with his .ini file.  But we all got in and started breaking things.  Scot was out for a very important meeting.

Race 1:
Darrel started on the pole earning some good points and an early lead.  Chad and I were in the back not far behind Sandy.  On the start, I went outside and for the first half of the course, Sandy and I were banging door handles and bumpers off each other among the pack.  Sadly he would get the raw deal starting into the second lap as some brutish bloke just ran him straight out to the wall.  Dreadful.  I eventually caught Darrel and made a pass as we came upon some Chad destruction.  Sandy and Chad ran into some issues throughout the race which was unfortunate as they were making some very good runs.  Darrel and I wrapped up 2-1.

Race 2:
Chad pulled an impressive 6th place start with Sandy mid pack around the 20s.  Darrel and I started aft due to success ballast.  On the start, Chad was doing well but eventually was caught and distraught.  Darrel and I tried roaring up the field.  Coming into Russel Bend, Aiello smacked one of the Volvos running all three of us into the final marshal stand.  My car was wrecked and now he's high on my s**t list.  Sandy and Chad did slightly better this time, though, again, big gains were harried by minor on and off track incidents.  Darrel had a top 15.

Race 3:
Ross on the pole, Hamilton outside, Sandy dead center again and Chad slipped up to start back in the mid 30s.  On the start, I pulled away and had a fairly clear track until a few scuffles with lappers slowed me down.  Darrel got shoved wide twice in the opener making for a long comeback throughout the race for an 11th finish.  Chad and Sandy improved slightly to garner low 30s but for the 3rd time, fell victims to unfortunate circumstances (black flag, Mr. Smith) and AI altercations.

Next week we see the final official BTCC circuit and the last of the UK tracks at Silverstone.  This is the original, Formula 1 configuration.  Long straights into 90 degree turns make this a course that's all about outbreaking the competition and less about knowing the track.  On our 1-10 scale, Silverstone sits at about a 4 for difficulty.  Chad will not join us as he's going to be OBnoXious.  I think that works.
