A Thanksgiving break and back to getting our hands dirty...literally. The Hamilton Complex is dirt and it's everywhere. If you're back in the field, it's essentially a death sentence. You can't see jack. But we had two good races. No Odie or Scot tonight. Also no screen grabs not that you would be able to see anything anyway.
Race 1: Darrel and I were 2 and 1 at the front with Chad back in 6th. Sandy was back in the fold a bit. We got going and immediately yellow flags. Very much like two weeks ago. We ended up finishing with about 7-8 green flag laps out of 30. Chad got wrecked a bit but fortunately had some bonus points. Sandy ended up falling towards the back and struggled there through the dirt. Darrel was catching me and likely there would have been a tussle for the lead had we not ran into another yellow. But good racing all around.
Race 2: Swapped start between Darrel and I (1st and 2nd). Chad and Sandy got not-so-good runs in qualifying and started back. This run was much better though another immediate yellow at the start and several flags across the run. But more green flag runs. Sandy would get rolled under yellow but wouldn't succumb to damage until a later wreck. Darrel caught the wall at the start so we switched positions. Ran 1 and 2 for pretty much most of the race. We got close to the ended and Chad had gotten wrecked up with at least one other car. Darrel and I came up on him out of 4. I just missed him and Darrel had slowed up and gone high. But there was another driver coming up behind Darrel that took him out right in front of the field. Put him upside down and bashed around. That was the end of Darrel. I got damaged some laps later from a wreck of back markers, enough that I smoked. I pulled into the pits but must have passed someone before the line and also got caught speeding. Came in on the restart and got a yellow just after I went down a lap. Chad was still in it and at this point had just gotten past me in 16th and we were the back of the field. On the restart, Chad ducked low as he was hurt and let cars by. I pushed until the end and with 2 to go, most everyone dove for a splash of fuel. This put me in front for the last lap with four or five guys right behind. I held the bottom but didn't have enough speed to keep one from slipping by on the highside coming to the line. I settled for a second by a 10th of a second. Chad still finished out the race with a very respectable 12th.
