Race 1:
Darrel and I started at the front and had some slight misques with how we were taking the green. Somehow we both ended up getting a black flag for passing the pace car well into turn two and three...on the other side of the track. I gave us a pass on that.
Mark had a quick end as he was working to avoid issues coming to the green. He didn't even make it that far as the field was already working around.
Sandy nearly had the same problem but just came to a stop and waited.
Darrel and I were working to keep things together when I ran up on Michael Schumacher. Darrel ran up on me as there was no place to go and I fell down the pack.
Scot fought his loose car early on and for all of the few laps he was in the race.
When he wasn't fighting the loose condition, he was fighting getting spun out by the competitors.
Then there was a small stackup at the intersection with Sandy and Mad Max coming together with Darrel.
Darrel was having some problems just before this getting routed through the corner.
He even took a tumble before sliding into his human companions. Yet, life was still breathing in that motor.
As it was in Scot's, surprisingly. He was getting tossed like a salad by some of the other drivers as they ran up on him.
But, as his technique, he turned most of those impacts into larger pile ups. Like the freaking Midas Death Touch over here.
Darrel had decided to camp out a bit on the infield where it was supposedly safe and let attrition push him through the ranks.
And with hits like this, it wasn't long before most of the competition was out. In fact, this was still only about 5 laps in of our 40.
Sandy was one of the unlucky ones as he ran the gambit and was taken out with several others. A wreck that was Mad Max worthy.
Scot was running when he had a moderate hit through the cross over and went flying off course.
There was STILL forward motion on the car and as Scot tried to right himself, he ran right into an invisible wall and his car turtled. Frustrating...
Towards the end, Darrel was back in it with less than a dozen cars still active. He caught this as I went wheel to wheel with Schumacher for first.
But I charged back and passed coming to the white flag. Then Michael gave me a swipe going into the corner.
I caught him with a cross over move and sent him into the wall as Darrel and I went on for a 4th and 1st respectively.
Race 2:
Mark joined us at the front for Race 2 and things started off quite well for everyone.
Although there was a close call between father and son as we looped around.
The first human to human collision happened on the next pass but not at the cross over. Scot was getting rocked around with AI coming to the middle and Darrel threw the anchors to avoid the melee. Mark thought the two of them were going to slip through the cross and was already at full throttle when the two came together.
It was another case of cue ball as Darrel was thrown right into the side of Scot.
Darrel was rolled down the track and Scot's engine was destroyed. Mark was stuck dead in the intersection and started the largest crash I've ever seen here.
Scot was impressed despite being dead.
I held the lead and what remained of the field quickly unraveled. Few things as satisfying as seeing a Michael Andretti fly through the air.
Sandy was the only other remaining human and was attempting to run the most conservative race he could after getting stung in R1. But it didn't keep him clean from run ins.
I did my best to clear out the competition for him. It was going well.
Of course, we had our moments as well.
To be honest, I'm surprised he was still driving after several of these.
Ultimately, we both held on and I took the win with The Bear taking a well earned 7th.
Darrel has selected our next track as a respectable return to ACTUAL race tracks with the NASCAR cup version of Watkins Glen.
