'87 Winston Cup 2016 Series - 29 Dover

Another one in the Chase is gone (even though we aren't acknowledging it) and Dover was a doozy.  There were some technical issues early on as I tried to keep the server from crashing and Scot recovered from his unfortunate Windows 10 Anniversary Update.  I would say that I can't wait to get my laptop back except it also has the W10AU which is currently screwing up NASCAR as well.  God I hate you, Microsoft.  I hope you get Russian brides with ransomware in their ovaries.

The race started with promise as three humans reigned at the front.

We spent the first dozen or so laps playing nice and gently pulling away from the field.  I eventually let Darrel pass as we approached lap cars and I was easing my pace compared to his.

Shortly after this gentlemanly exchange, Scot spun Ulrich.  So sorry.  Although it was pretty close to Sandy.  I'm sure he was worried.

The unfortunate thing about starting all together at the front is that your stalls are also right on top of each other.  I brushed against Darrel coming to my stall and spent several seconds trying to straighten out and get inside the box.

They were still changing tires when Darrel went to leave so he just backed straight into Zack who shoved back, putting Darrel right into my bumper with nowhere to go.

Things weren't looking great as we all lost some spots.  Hopefully we could keep it together on the start.

I guess not.  Darrel got a little loose with fresh tires.

Despite coming around, there was very little cosmetic damage.  Scot also took this opportunity to practice spinning.  He'd need it later.

The next start had Zack and myself back up at the front where we ran a few laps together.

Eventually, Darrel lost the back end again and this time got a little more rumpled on the rear but still not in bad shape.

This caution was a little awkwardly timed and I was too busy watching what the rest of the field was doing to tell Zack what I was doing.  He started to dive down at the last second but pulled off.  I did a similar stunt only I almost pulled out of pit road past the commit cones.  No one was hurt.

During the run, Zack eased back and I swung by so he could draft.  At this point, he was starting to get low on gas and desperately needed a caution.

Scot is very helpful and got into Mike Potter.

Just to spin himself out and get hit by Brett Bodine.  I told you he needed the practice.

Mostly minor damage and more ruined tires.

Everyone had a pit and there were no issues.  Oh, except Zack sped on pit road.  53 in a 50.  Shame.

We were around halfway and Scot was ready to start his resurrection by taking out Christman (See what I did there?).

But it didn't help Zack as he got caught up with Hillin Jr and Darrel crucified the 62 (I'm on a roll..so is Christman!).

Sandy was becoming more and more wary of all these accidents happening around him.

The C man almost rolled up on Zack but fortunately it didn't land on his engine or Zack would have been finished.  Not that Sandy would have minded.

After more caution laps, most of the field would pit which allowed Zack to come back to the front.  We'd still need another stop in at least 20 laps or so to make it.

Again, Scot continued to struggle and spun in front of Sacks.

This time Sandy did get involved but was slowed enough to minimize damage here.

Some stops happened here and Darrel found himself in second.  The three humans were back at the front in the second half.

Some laps later, Phil Parsons, who had been in and out of pit road about every other lap, came bumbling back up the track.

Jimmy Means, the asshole that he is, clipped him good.

And that caused a small pileup right in front of Sandy, who was used to this sort of shit by now.

The final pit stops and all the humans would line up to be together.

Although Sandy and Darrel would head in the next lap, leaving the rest of us to fly in formation and score an illegal lead lap for Scot.  Shhh, don't tell.

He eventually settled back into position and we started back to racing.

Shortly after that, Darrel found himself up in the wall.

And then down the track.  Still, an impressive job of staying relatively damage-free.

Although he would lose it again right in front of me.

And I ran up to the wall to keep from wrecking...

...but this is what actually brought the caution out.  Scot got lose in front of Waltrip.

From there, he came back down into traffic and the pileups started.

And he got hit bad this time.  Still running though.

Here's where things get a little...stupid.  Notice the Folgers car.  No the red Folgers car.  NO!  The OTHER red Folgers car, on the left, #52 of Jimmy Means.  He's caught in this wreck and still wrecking well after many of those involved have already cleared out.

Yet, he thinks its his right to be in second place at the moment.  Keep in mind he was way back in the field, somewhere around 18th I believe.  And he come flying up, splitting Bodine and Wallace and bouncing up off the apron.

He gives his second hip check of the night to Sandy who truly was in no one's way and following traffic.

Not only did he hit the outside wall...

...but he crushed the inside as well, doing some bad damage to the handling and engine.  He definitely was still competitive but much less so.

Then that bastard, Means, goes up and nestles up to my rear bumper, giving Zack the finger.

Zack was not having any of this shit and on the restart, poked his nose right past the bastard.

He wasn't the only human taking back the track as Scot gave Brett Bodine a fender who went and knocked around Parsons.

Scot almost lost it but used the curb to catch himself and carried on.

He wouldn't be so lucky on the next round of green laps as Sterling Marlin gave him a tap inside the sandwich.

With just about 9 to go, another wreck in front of Sandy.  At least Darrel Waltrip got a good smash into the wall from this.  Sandy was actually able to rally and finish just ahead of Means in 21st.  Not where he could have been but it was a decent finish.

I took another win and wrecked right at the line.

And was joined by the rest of the field, including Zack, who placed second and launched a 70+ point lead on Sandy going to Charlotte.
