Race 1:
Things started on the down as all humans sucked at qualy. Not that we could really compete. Not that it would matter much.
Zack was the first casualty as he tried to give Sandy and Scot room, running slow just in time to get slammed by the leader before he even took the flag.
And continued well into the corner, taking him farther away from starting his first lap.
Scot and I started to link up and move forward.
Sand (seen in the back) adapted the strategy of hanging back and carefully watched the field self-destruct.
Zack finally got moving and started making some laps with severe damage. And I started charging up the outside of the 49ers...
...only to pull a highway lane merge scenario and collide with Zack as he was lining up the corner.
Scot was doing OK but then got hooked on the Spartans and sent into the wall.
But he got going again quickly.
Just in time to get slammed by Darrel's Titans.
This caused him to slow down enough that he and I were on a collision course. I slowed down in anticipation...
To get slammed by the Hookies...
And launched into the intersection.
But I landed on my wheels and kept it going.
Right into Sandy who was doing his best to drive on eggshells around this place.
If you thought Zack was done getting into trouble, you're wrong. Very clearly wrong.
After doing some altimeter testing for SpaceX...
...he came back down and got slammed by Darrel's Broncos. Finally dead.
Scot and I found each other again and the Titans were at it again on him.
Right into me.
Fortunately we got it going and were alright.
For exactly one turn as I got into it with the Ravens.
And Scot blew into my engine compartment.
After some more laps, Scot got knocked again, this time by my Giants.
That doesn't look good.
Despite his efforts, Sandy couldn't keep out of trouble.
Which, of course, was compounded.
While going back to his strategy of sitting at the intersection "like a 4-way" (thanks Zack), Scot couldn't avoid him and spun around.
And that caused us to align cycles (sounds wrong).
It was only a matter of time before we clobbered each other.
Even after that, we STILL kept lining up.
In the end the rest of us survived and took away some good points.
Race 2:
Well, it took some time to finally get it going with damage on Moderate so we moved to Full and no one died immediately.
Well, no humans. Sandy immediately went back to his strategy of hanging out with a bucket of popcorn and watching the metal fly.
Scot and I were back at it, running down the competition and Zack was not far behind.
We even started tearing up the other cars.
But it wouldn't be all rainbows as we started getting into pileups. Well I did anyway.
But things were certainly going better than previously. We were dancing around piles of cars.
And pretty much sticking together through the dwindling madness.
But Zack couldn't quite hold on to his rising lead as his back end swung out.
I then took this opportunity to kill the Badgers and take the lead.
But Zack and Scot didn't make it easy and kept the pressure on.
Scot was hanging in there but got caught by the Seahawks and rolled. He may have been OK except the hood of his car smacked the barrier and took out the engine.
While I had some breathing space, I ran into Sandy...again.
Then I got carried away with my homicidal driving and took out the Patriots.
And nearly myself.
But I got it landed and going again.
Taking first with Scot in a close 2nd.
Race 3:
3rd verse, same as the second one actually. We were even more tightly grouped than we had been.
Which didn't work out as well. I took out Zack's former ride and he railed me from behind.
For some reason, Scot spun as well. Thanks for the support, buddy.
We were then locked out of passing the intersection until traffic cleared. Taking a page out of Sandy's book.
Not that Zack made it very far before he found the parking lot.
This was actually caused on a small part by Sandy who was getting caught on other cars and adding to the pile.
He managed to miss the worst of it and just had to avoid the scraps left by Zack.
During this race for some reason, I was finding turn 2 to be very annoying and spin-worthy.
Scot was keeping u pwith the crowd and managing to stay out of the worst of it.
After much of the traffic cleared out, it was down to humans just barely avoiding one another.
And me spinning.
But I wasn't the only one getting rocked around. Sandy and his passive measures brought on the ire of the Cornhuskers as they body slammed him.
And he wasn't out of it yet.
After playing with Scot's Lions, I came up on the scene and slammed into him. Didn't kill him but he did have to call a tow.
The Jets then took me out as penance.
That knocked me back enough that the first place Cornhuskers caught up to me. I then sent them out into the wall.
Seeing that they had the lead, I then tried to take them out on the next lap. But it wasn't enough and they didn't hit head on into the wall.
Zack then had a moment where he got Rammed. Actually I don't think he even got hit. Not sure what that was.
But it did allow me to slip by for position.
In the end, we managed some good finishes all around but the Cornhuskers beat us out. Shame filled the garage.
Next week is the second Wildcard at North Carolina Jump.
