Pot Luck 17 - R25-26 Red Rock

The season moves partially back to a regular format as Sandy selects Red Rock.  While technically a road course, it's one of the few where you can go nearly flat out and see high speeds, consistent 3-wide racing and drafting used heavily.  Two rounds at 32 laps with full damage and two pit stops.

Race 1:

After a mulligan start as Zack Webster lost it through the first corner, things progressed OK with Sandy and Tnadz not far behind and all other humans at the rear.

It didn't take long before wrecking happened.  Tnadz was outside and attempted to dive in front of Osman and Serra but they were positioned too far forward.

The 29 of Serra nearly took out Sandy but he buffeted the Eurofarma car up the track.

Tnadz managed to avoid nearly all damage except to tires while Gurton Buster got slapped by Caca Bueno on his way by.  Gut Slab skirted way down low through the corner.

But down through the short chute, he caught the back of Bia's ride and they went into the fence.

Much wrecking ensued.

Even though Hamilton had slowed well up for the wreck, he got slightly tapped by Bueno and went up the track where his teammate was stopped.  Not much damage but well off the pace at this point.

Tnadz went two more laps before his worn tires made gripping the lip of the hill impossible and he spun and rolled.

He nearly had enough car to keep going when Zonta blasted into him.

Coming down the hill, Hamilton couldn't see through the smoke and caught Zonta, blowing his tire and doing some serious damage.

He did even more as he went evasive and slapped the wall to avoid Tnadz's broken husk.

Much of the first half was fairly quiet afterwards although GB was taken out in dramatic fashion as Pizzonia railed him, on purpose, through one.

While there wasn't much left of the car, his Prati teammate made sure there was nothing left of Buster's Reputation.

In other news, Hamilton managed to get repaired and came out swinging.  He would later salvage a top 20 with significantly less car than what he started with.

The Bear had been chasing Webster the entire first dozen laps before having to take fuel and tires.  He was in position to continue this when he accidentally bumped his camera to a different car.  An entire lap was lost trying to return to his car to drive.

And that literally cost him the win because not long after, Zack lost it in turn one.

He slid out into the wall and totaled the ride.

Sandy made it just outside the top ten but was kicking himself doggedly for what could have been his first win at his track.

Race 2:

A switch up at the front put Hamilton and Tnadz on the line for a standing start this time.  Sandy was once again in third, looking to capitalize on a wrong move.

The start was without incident and there was close racing.  We wouldn't see our first race sorrows until about 4-5 laps in.  Buster caught the dreaded lift coming over the hill right in front of Webster.

The two were too close and came together.

Meanwhile, the action was heating up between the front runners as they came to the first stop.

It was close for the first half of the race as neither one had a clear advantage.  But then disaster for another human as Darrel's car blew over in front of Tnadz.  Unlike Zack, Tnadz was far enough back to pull to the side and assume the lead.

The Bear had been stalking and this was simply playing into his plans.  All he'd need to do is get a good stop and keep hitting his marks to close in for a potential attack for the lead.

Things were business-as-usual until around ten to go when Slab came back to the race in dramatic fashion.

Tnadz and Bear were both started going into turn two but no casualties.

Unfortunately, Smith's plans didn't come to fruition as he was constantly held back by lappers while trying to position himself for a better finish.

And with no issues to bar the way, Tnadz took the win.

Darrel has chosen Watkins Glen with the Boot for the next two rounds.  We previously raced the Classic version of the track (no bus stop) so this is allowed.  Two rounds and no pit stops.  Go figure.
