British Trucks 2018: 11-12 Kansas

Off to the Mid-West with Kansas and another 1.5 miler.  This one drove almost like a super speedway at times and the competition was tough.

Race 1:
From 3rd position, Egg made a lunge early into turn one while Tnadz, Hamilton and Egg sat juts inside the top ten, trying not to wreck each other early.  It was more successful than the first attempt.

Hamilton found himself on the outside early and quickly fell down the order as he was shuffled back.

Only a couple laps in and Slab got in to Franklin and Hillesheim.

Sandy Smith wasn't spared from this one and took on some damage early.

Just up the track, Hamilton came together with the Bdubs truck and bounced off the wall.

He got collected and the wreck grew.

Slab was also involved but harmlessly spun down the track and only had some minor cosmetic damage.  Hamilton was in worse shape.

Catching up to the field under yellow, he looped it.

As did Sandy for some reason as he was running way down on the apron.

Back at the front, The Egg was driving hard to get out in front of the leaders.

A short way back, Tnadz moved past Gurton Buster who was forced high and starting to fall back.

After a few more laps, Tnadz was right behind Egg and the action was intense as he looked for a gap while defending from Collins.

But as the trio of humans were working up through the pack, Tnadz knocked hubs with Hawkins off of turn four and he was sent into the infield.

As his truck came back up the track, Tompkins was more than happy to pile into the back of him, temporarily taking him out of the race and completely out of contention.

Of course, he wasn't alone.

Running back to the yellow, Franklin got a taste of the Slab.

The two managed to twist around on the front stretch without taking much damage and carried on.

On the restart, GB made a hard scrabble to the outside of Stevens to clear him for the next corner.

While he managed that, he was again caught out wide and lost his hard earned spots.  Egg was pedaling as fast as he could to knock down laps and hold his lead.

Coming towards the white flag, the pack sorted out some and Egg just had to focus on keeping them behind him.

He just managed to stay solid and took home an incredibly hard fought win.  His second of the season.

After falling back, Buster managed to work his way back up for a 4th but ran out of laps to improve any more.

Race 2:
Tnadz took a page from GB book and got a jump and a run to the inside into turn one.  The Egg got the short end of the qualifying stick and was stuck on wide early on.

He'd be the Darrel of this race and drift back into the crowd.

After a few laps of close racing, Tnadz lost some power from malfunctioning pedals and Buster didn't need a second invitation to take the lead.

Tnadz final worked out his pedal issue but was well down the order.

At the back, Hamilton was caught between Gruber Jr and Tressler who's nose he came across off of turn four.

He managed to collect White and quite a bit of bent up body panels in the process.

Slab gets the "You're in God's Hands" award at this race.  This was just one of his impressive saves of the night as he came hard up off the apron and barely reined it in before slamming the 87.

On the restart, Tnadz was getting u pto speed when the 2 blocked his line and stiff armed him into the inner back stretch flats.

Concurrently, The Egg was bouncing around off the wall and Sundberg in the Hooters truck, taking on some unneeded damage.

He caught the wall again coming out of four.  Things weren't looking great.

Both drivers came in for service on lap 12 of 54.

On the restart, Gurton Buster was top of the order and had his hands full keeping the field bottled up behind him.

Hamilton was running just over 100 mph from early damage and thought he was safe on the apron when Hillesheim and Hill got together and shot by on the grass.

As he rejoined the racing surface, White nearly took him out.

Meanwhile, Tnadz was warming up his fresh tires and was climbing back up the mountain.

Several more laps and Darrel was getting lapped again.

He thought he was safe and rejoined the line when Gruber Jr. clipped him.

He might have been OK but Rebrov slammed the nail in the coffin.

The Doritos truck rolled up into the fence about a dozen times before turtling and being sent to the junk yard.

Around 30 laps and the first fuel window so the pits were very busy.

Tnadz pulled one out of the hat and retook the lead by only taking two tires.

On the start, he and GB just had to clear some lappers and the race was on.

With fresher tires, the Cars for Hope truck was looking for any opening possible.

But the battling let the field catch up and things started getting dicey with GB on the outside.

Tnadz kept him in the draft by switching lines and it almost looked like he might pull ahead.

But then Stevens started to try for the inside making it three wide and that's when O' Regan tapped Buster around.

On the start, Tnadz was caught out by hard charging AI who violently fought back.

This eventually sent him well up the track where Caldas kept tapping his bumper, forcing a higher, slower line, losing even more spots.

Then Hill was there and swept up into the barriers with Tnadz, both taking damage but staying straight.

As Egg was running up to the line, they went 4-wide behind him and it got wild for Hawkins.

Egg made a strong lunge to the inside while the wreckage spread out behind him.

With about a half dozen laps left, GB was salvaging his race when he made awkward contact with Sundberg and then Turner which brought out one final caution.

With one lap left and everyone with damaged trucks, it was a mad dash to try and make up spots.  GB at the back was duking it out with Slab and Sandy while Egg was trying to force a run up the inside.

Coming to the line, Egg got tangled up with Mel Collins and the two turned hard into the wall.

He arrived in style but not in the top 20 position he thought as he took a penalty for passing low at the restart.  That gave Tnadz the best human finish at a sophomoric 15th.

Next week will be the notorious Charlotte Motor Speedway.  The wreckord stands at 35 DNFs.
