The final wildcard of the regular season did not disappoint as the script was flipped for a bunch of teams. I'll Kill You and Black Smiths faced off at Indy Wave. I'll Kill You was close to last going into the round with Black Smiths in 2nd by quite a bit. For the 3rd time in a row, the criteria was Most Awards.
Race 1:
Race 1 saw most of the humans encountering errors throughout. Tnadz nearly locked up the award for Diehard except he was DQed as was his teammate, Sandy, both for driving backwards. The Egg almost got it but retired upon seeing the advantage of becoming last in case of an X Factor. His teammate, Slab, however, went ahead and got it anyway.
Race 2:
Damage at Moderate with 5 fewer laps made things more interesting. Tnadz was trying to make up some points with Zolecki struggling against collisions and Webster being out. But he could not anticipate Mad Max's intents and made contact, kind of screwing himself out of a win and sending Scot further afield and turtled.
No problem though because the Redskins prevailed with a win and award for most points. Tnadz also still managed a 5th and the Hard Charger. It was a strong lead so far on awards. Everything the two competing teams wanted.
Race 3:
Full damage and only 15 laps to get it done. Slab caused some issues trying to take out various AI. He managed to kill off the Redskins and was after UCF, laying waste to the various human teammates.
The destruction continued as Zolecki had just passed The Bear for position when he found himself buried in the back of his teammate.
That launched the 15 into Bear's path and it was curtains for all 3 of them. A fine strike for Slab.
While it seemed impossible after some initial wrecking (some by Egg and some by others), Tnadz found himself in 1st with one lap to go and right ahead of teammate Steelers. But there was an opportunity. With the awards likely locked up, he slowed down and made a swipe at the Steelers. Why? Because just behind was the Seminoles: a much needed X Factor.
While the attack went astray, the attempt may have been enough to get the Steelers slowed a touch and allow the X Factor by for a very close win. 2nd and 5th still got some very good points and both of the Black Smith drivers lead for more points. Even after losing 10 points for a driving infringement from Race 1, Black Smiths were ready to get a great boost.
By the end, I'll Kill You was firmly in last. Know You had lost ground to the rest of the field but were still a solid 1st. That was what caused them to lose 50 points by the end to last place. This closed up the field so there is now a 3-way tie for 2nd place with 3 rounds to go.
We break for Holiday but will be back after New Years to start towards the conclusion of a very exciting Twisted Metal Tour. Results!
