2020 Super Speedway Series - Round 5: Bump Draftin' Super Speedway

The long, double-triovaled track was filled with cars side to side which lead to risky maneuvers and crazy crashes.

Race 1:

It didn't take more than a lap before things got nasty in the mid-pack.  Mad Max got tangled up on the outside line and the wreck cascaded down.

A few turns later, Hamilton was running towards the top and came down a little too much, causing him to spin into the crowd.

A few more laps and Zolecki got caught on the back of the 17, sending them both up into Tnadz and making another big-little one as both continued to get hit by approaching cars.

Egg and Webster were battling for the lead throughout the last two laps.  With one to go, Zack made a big dive to the inside and forced Egg back up the track.

It was a drag race to the line but The Egg had a little bit more help and just eked out a win.

Race 2:

The 30 lap race started well enough with the field staying together for well over a lap.  Then as Zolecki was drafting close with 23, the pair came down into traffic and the 8 was collected, sending himself and Egg up the track.

The wreck was quite large.  Slab and Bear managed to duck down the infield to avoid the initial carnage but Slab was caught up just at the end of it.

Nearly everyone came in except for The Bear who stayed out to lead a lap.

The track stayed green for a while after they returned to racing.  Then Myhr got a tap by the 17.  He caught it with skill.

The next caution was a little more exciting as the 96 tried to duck down to the pits in front of Egg.

As the final stop, Tnadz and Webster were at the top of the order.  As they came in, Tnadz was tucked in a bit too much and both were knocked out of line with their boxes, causing them to lose several spots.

Back under green, everyone was in a dash for position.

Tnadz had tried hooking up with Egg to follow him up the field but didn't realize he was damaged.  Once he did, he tried to pass but Egg blocked violently, allowing Webster and Myhr to close.  It was on as they approached the white flag.

On the backstretch, Webster ducked low to the apron and the inertia carried him back up the track where things started getting tight and the 34 made contact with the cars around him.

The jostling started and Webster and Egg were tossed inside and out.

The Egg came back up the track into Tnadz who barely held the car forward while Webster came down the track and cars scattered everywhere.

Scot slung low and just barely came through a hole that just barely opened up in front of him.  He managed to maintain speed and carry on for an 8th.

Next week is Proving Grounds, the second longest track of the series.
