The banners wave and the trumpets sound, a new series winner has been crowned. But I won't Dr. Seuss you to death. Let's get to details.
Race 1: The fab 5 of Race Night were all in attendance for the final track. Practice went well, although Scot swooped in a bit late after we had qualified 2 on the front row and 2 on the 5th row. After some quick additional practice for Scot to feel ready-ish, we took to the green for a 50 lap starter. Very quickly we had cautions and that would remain the theme for the night. These were not simple spins either. It seemed every single one was a quagmire of cars and wreckage, usually on a straightaway. Chad took a DNF for the first race after some hard whacks to the wall from his unruly vehicle. The rest would stay in but at the cost of several black flags from various infractions. Several were from the infamous phantom pit road in the corner so I tried to clear those as best I could or at least award laps back for those lost. In the end, after much abuse, it was me, Scot, Darrel 7-9. Sandy wasn't far back getting a strong 14th.
Race 2: The flesh-and-blood crew were a bit more spread out this round and saw starts all over. First caution allowed Darrel to hop into first, Scot second, and me pulling up 3rd. It wouldn't stay that way forever as we fell into the old habit of cautions every few laps. To some satisfaction, we did manage to get the green runs to stretch out a bit before the end. Chad, Darrel and Sandy took some serious abuse along the way but all stayed in. Scot had some damage, lost gears, but was generally OK until we went through and got him a lucky dog. As soon as it was executed, the engine blew. It was that defining moment that would cause him to fall to 22nd in the standing: one spot behind Sandy...by only a few points. Chad and Sandy traded some paint and maintained respectable finishes. Darrel recovered from being a few laps down to place 17th. Really surprised there weren't more cars out.

We now move into the Cup series. It's been a while since we've raced at this level so it will be good to be back. First race is the 19th and we may very well have a practice session a week prior. I'll post links for the new series including our new paint schemes. Haven't finalized them yet, but have some ideas. This next series will be very similar to actual cup. Expect damage to always be realistic, yellows on, and only one race for an hour. I'll post details along with information regarding the car files. For now, enjoy your break and we'll see you soon.
