Race 1:
We'll start by reviewing the tough battle between the series leaders.
Things started well until I got overzealous in the corners.
Zack quickly caught up and we came to blows.
I was reeling him in when Darrel appeared out of nowhere travelling backwards across our backstretch moguls.
While I managed to recover I lost a lot of time and more incidents just kept slowing me down.
By the last lap, I had caught Zack due to heavy traffic and we made contact again entering the back stretch.
Somehow, he managed to straighten out without issue while the Trojans took the screws to me.
And then again over the jumps.
Zack was home free by this point.
Sandy's race started out slow in the back and he ran into trouble early.
He recovered well and started running down laps, mostly by himself.
He did have a few altercations as he tried to keep his unruly car under control.
And a classic rivalry boiled to the top as the Steelers caught him out coming to the third hairpin.
This one hurt his time pretty badly and would shuffle him down the order.
He was still getting rocked around on the last lap when his rival coasted by. And I would come flying in from the left and launch the whole lot of them into the air. I had a race to win, come on.
Interestingly enough, I'd called out the incorrect rival from the start of the race. Here, he had to witness Shagerty slip by him while giving a shunt. Had Sandy been facing Scott, things would have ended poorly. As it was, the race was still close going into the next round.
Darrel's race started in disaster.
Dispite a strong set of performances at this track in the past, he spent most of lap 1 driving backwards.
While he finally got around his peculiar wheel lock issue and straightened out, he got rolled by the Titans before lap 1 was complete. Tow time.
After the tow, he regrouped and set out without much issue until coming through the penultimate corner. Here, my Seminoles caught him off the wall and rolled him over. Tow two.
One more time into the fray and Darrel wasn't but halfway through his third lap when I ran wide going through the second hairpin and knocked him off his wheels.
He recovered but the field was on him where the Steelers knocked him on his top. By this point, frustration overwhelmed Darrel and he pulled a classic rage quit. Tough luck bud.
Race 2:
Race 2 starting nearly the identical to Race 1.
Zack and I started to distance the field as they tripped over themselves.
I was starting to gain a lead when I caught the back of the field around lap 4.
While must of my run through the field was unmolested, my Chiefs got jealous and knocked me around.
I recovered and forgave but displaced my aggression on others.
After few other incidents, I cam to the line by launching the Longhorns over pit wall.
I even caught the Trojans and sent them flying into the wall, dropping them a few places before they finished their last lap.
And where was Zack? Well, he kept me in his sights for the first few laps, biding his time and preserving his car when he caught the field like I did. There's a Sandy in there somewhere.
His run through backmarkers was more damaging than mine as 'Bama found him and let Zack know what they thought about his put downs against the team.
The 23 bounced back and pushed on, holding 2nd, although the lappers were giving him hell.
Coming to the last lap, things got hairy....
When he couldn't see Sandy on the other side of the dust. The Bear was flying.
Speaking of The Bear, he had a Wildcard to win. At the start of this race, he was tied with Notre Dame with one point each. Starting in the back, he tried to charge through early, but met a wall of metal.
It wasn't until partway through lap one that he was spun around.
And while Sandy didn't really have trouble with other cars, he did have difficulty sticking his landings. They were rough and throwing him around.
And then the Cardinals happened. Coming out of the pits, they smacked him...
...and spun him.
And continued to smack into him. He eventually had to let them go ahead or they'd be stuck there forever. And the Irish were getting away.
He recovered from that debacle and started turning some good laps but more issues arose.
And after the Falcons rolled him, he had more collisions.
Kindly though, the Bills rolled him back over.
By the next turn it was more of the same. And at this point, he still thought that number 13 was his rival and could only sit in helpless dismay as the Jaguars put him over.
Even humans were taking shots at him. Although I had a race to win. Come on...
Here's the point where Zack really did some damage. You can see him approaching the hill to the left while Sandy gets in it with New York.
And then he was launched and rolled like dough.
By now, he had been run into several more times and the engine was ready to let go.
Once again, those Dolphins sailed by in a mocking gesture while he was barely clinging to a single point.
And with just one more stretch to go, the nail slammed firmly into the coffin. I came upon him too quickly and pushed him into the end of pit road. I didn't mean it but there it is. However, he did not retire and the Irish were out. Sandy 2, Irish 1.
Race 3
Things looking familiar at the start, although Scott Hagerty is starting 3rd. This is bad news as they would have been tied, Scott and Sandy, had the Wildcard been between them. You see, even if the Dolphins wrecked, their chances of getting the heartache award were high, meaning they would earn two points, while Sandy was like to get one, thus breaking the tie in Hagerty's favor. But of course this wouldn't be the case since he was facing off against the Irish who were one point behind and starting mid pack.
Zack stayed very close as I was looking after my car and he was looking for a win.
Since I didn't really have any issues ahead, I took my time ruining some other people's races.
Watch the Seahawks fly!
Although there were some close calls.
And eventually I would roll Zack's teammate into oblivion.
I would hold the lead for the race and finish alongside Darrel's avatar.
But Zack was the one who actually placed second on the podium. But it was not without danger.
Where I ran a conservative race, Zack switched roles and threw caution to the wind.
By the end his car was a mess but he was in the points.
Sandy in the hot seat and not starting well.
After trying to bully the field, he backed off and worked through one at a time.
This strategy kept him pointed the right direction and he placed a very respectful 11th. But was it enough?
It seems my Seminoles felt sympathetic towards The Bear's plight and lent a hand in the Fighting Irish's destruction at the start of the race. Well done guys. So Sandy managed to come away with some good finishes and 5 extra bonus points. Plus he earned the Hard Charger award for most places gained and pushed himself into the top 5 points.
Now we go to another dirt roadcourse, although I don't know if you can call a figure 8 a road course. Yes, we return to the Bone Crusher with its wonderful jump in the middle of the track. Good luck!
