50's Short Track Classic 2015 - 31-32 Lebanon Valley

One of the few remaining dirt tracks of the season and certainly another interesting one.  The AI and track officials were not always with their wits about them, but we did get two races in (eventually).

Race 1:

60 laps and the first one was dicey with all four attending humans in the top ten.

It wasn't long before Sandy found himself outside and coming back down the track into me of all people.

Some bumps and bruises but still moving.

Coming to the line I got pushed high by Rowdy and things got out of hand.

I managed to get going again and on the next round of laps it was Scot who got to get taken out.

Thanks to Moderate damage, he kept rolling also.  Although the top of his car looked like a crumpled tent.

We got going with Darrel and Sandy up towards the front.

Some AI trouble and back to yellow.

Sandy tried to work out a black flag while Darrel took his mandatory.  A move that set him at the back of the field.

Back racing and what was left of the field was a big stack.

Sandy was struggling with his car when Darrel was moving to pass on the restart.

But things got out of control.

Darrel was still running but not as strong as before.  Back to racing.

Sandy was in the pits trying to get in his stall and getting gruff about it...

...and Al Unser caused a wreck.

On the restart, I was leading with Darrel right behind thanks to AI pitting.  He anticipated the start significantly.  Looking at this, I don't know how I didn't get a black flag.  He doesn't even have the green in his hand!

This had the unfortunate effect of Darrel having to back off, get caught by traffic, and bounced off the wall back into more traffic.  The result is familiar.

Scot barely avoided the carcass as it came rolling down the track.  Darrel was done.

Further along, Jennifer Bennedict got knocked around.

With a green white checkered, I came home with the win.

Race 2:

Mark tried to get in on the action but was unable.  After waiting around, I had to drop the laps to 45.

Darrel and I took the front row and led them into one.

Scot waited a few laps before taking out the 7.

After that caution, however, it was the AI on a spree of cautions from just loosing it going through turn one.

Almost halfway and Darrel was running 2nd when he pulled over into the 99.  The 99 was running pretty close but it is what it is...

Dead.

Scot was back for another wreck.  This one wasn't so much intentional as it was him ramming the 35 for being too slow.

While he sputtered and recovered, the 35 came into trouble with the 12.

Back under green, he was trying for the pits and shouldn't have done it in front of me.

The resulting wreck would have made Chad smile.  Not that it was huge, but it showed promise.

Even though I was spun under caution...

...I still managed a win in typical fashion.

Next week is I-70.
