Race 1:
Mark and Darrel started off on the front line and quickly launched from the grid.
Things went well for around 3 or 4 laps when Mark was well wide off of turn 2, tapping the wall.
The slowdown allowed Darrel and me by and our three-way battle was in full swing.
But it wasn't long before Michael Andretti caused the first yellow.
And it was massive.
Truly epic in size.
Scot was impressed as he weaved his way through the wreckage with Sandy in tow.
For all those spots the Bear made, he handed several back as he went to the pits for repairs and his mandatory fuel stop.
Back under green, Mark, Darrel and I were back at war and Scot was slicing his way up through the field.
And like Icarus, he flew to close...to another car.
Dead.
We were now within the fuel window of our 27 lap race. However, Darrel chose to remain out. He gambled that there would be enough yellows to stretch out his fuel load and just make it rather than risk folly on pit road.
Mark had such a folly as his crew diligently changed his tires while their ice cream melted.
With Sandy having pit earlier, he roared up to the back of Darrel's wing and I wasn't too far off and closing.
Mark's start was a bit of a blunder but no harm done.
Darrel was thrilled as this meant he could continue conserving in every way possible.
When we did get going, we were nose to tail.
Mark was tearing through the order but he had lots of obstacles in his way.
And then, on the last lap, it happened. Darrel was out of fuel and we moved to pass.
As we moved past, Darrel rose up the track, closing the hole I had planned to fill and drag race to the final corners.
But as we moved past, between Darrel's slight drift and my move to catch draft...
...the server registered a hit, even though we weren't physically touching.
And hopes for a win were stunted.
Darrel attempted to cost to the line to avoid a DNF when he was completely run over.
Which Mark had a front row view of. And nearly collided.
And Sandy took a resounding win.
Race 2:
Race 2 was another 27 lapper but with humans scattered around the field.
Scot was the first to suffer as he was knocked high into the wall.
And coming off the wall ruined his day.
And while that impact wasn't too terrible, it was when Zack got there that things got destructive.
This was all predicated by Darrel's contact about a lap earlier when he had the slightest collision.
That put him up into the wall and slow in front of the field that was quickly approaching.
Sandy and Mad Max had to hop out of the way to avoid the log jam that was taking place.
On this caution, it was split for the pitters and stayers.
Starting again, I had my sights set on Mark and I was shoving the AI around.
And then Monteiro had his way with my tires. Had my spotter said 3 wide, I might of left more room...
He must have been talking to Sandy's spotter when Bear was desperately trying to avoid hits after losing some speed. So instead got wrecked.
Our next wreck, was just me...spinning for no real reason.
Mark went unfettered and took the win for Race 2.
He also picked The Rock for next week. Only two more tracks to go!
