Race 1:
Scot had some troubles getting in and Zack struggled with setup. Otherwise, it was all humans at the front for an exciting start.
Zack's woes started early while he had his hands all over the steering wheel like an eager kid on prom night.
And while the first spin didn't warrant a caution, NASCAR decided to throw one on the second.
Darrel almost ran up on me while racing back to the yellow and managed to save it.
Then on the restart, he sandbagged and swung past me at about 1000 mph.
By sandbag, I mean, really...I'm that spec of red up the track.
Speaking of sand, Sandy was fighting the Boxing Day crowd and stuck himself on the fence.
After coming off the wall, Surtees showed no remorse and took fenders to him. Well, he would if he had them.
The wrecking commenced.
Zack almost was caught in it but his loose condition caused him to Mr. Magoo his way past Sandy's sliding car and avoid trouble.
But his badly abused tires wouldn't let him drive a straight line and he slid back up the track.
While trying to straighten himself out, Darrel and I came back around and were catching the pace car when Darrel pulled way down low and scuppered the apron, swinging his car back up into the wall.
That damage may not have been so bad but the auxiliary hits were devastating.
At that point, all humans were gone except me and it turned into a typical Michigan race without any issue, all the way to the boring end. Although I will point out that Scot did make it in for the last half dozen laps or so.
Race 2:
On the second round, Zack got his mojo back and managed to start up at the front. I think Scot botched his Qualy to end up in the rear but otherwise it was all humans in the front.
Zack's good fortune didn't last too long as he scuffed the wall and fell back.
He would have a chance to come back as Darrel clanged wheels with me going into turn 3, bringing out our first caution.
I managed to pull up the reigns just before the field came blowing through.
Scot, feeling sympathetic, also spun through the infield.
Darrel must have been dealing with a guilty conscience as he once again toured the apron and spun out through the backstretch.
He didn't hit anything but he did flat spot his tires and I nearly blasted him as he was backing up to straighten out.
On the restart, it was Sandy, Darrel, Zack challenging for the lead. Sandy had a decent margin and Zack was making a move on Darrel when his engine went up in smoke.
Feeling sympathetic, his tires also started smoking as the sudden shift in weight made his car unstable.
He came back down the track and got tagged, ending yet another race in this, as he put it, "God forsaken series". I'd have to agree, it's not been the best for the old Webster.
And feeling sympathetic towards his cause, Scot also spun out on the front stretch.
On the restart, it was down to two humans at the front and Darrel was up to his old sandbagging tricks again.
But due to his skinned tires, he was having trouble holding a steady line.
After a few laps, he ended up in the outside wall.
Once he unstuck himself from the magnet, he came down and met up with our old friend, Nigel Mansell.
The wreckoning had come.
I only just managed to squeeze through by rushing the infield.
Scot tried the highline instead. Either to try and be one with the wreck or skirt the outside, I'm not certain. Mostly from his comment of "Oooo this looks fun".
In any case, he sympathetically smashed into Darrel, destroying whatever was left of his car.
Yet somehow, Scot kept going. All his sympathetic spinning got karma on his side...
...well, mostly. Until he got spun by some douche in the back of the pack.
While not on the assailant, he did take his revenge...on someone.
Once we restarted, I was getting my claws into the pack and using the draft to work my way up when Fagio gave me a tire going into one.
We both went up and caught the wall with me almost coming down and wrecking into clusters of cars.
With three to go, the last three of us were battling for the best positions we could get.
Going into one of the turns, I caught on Rosburg and sent him down the track.
As he came back in line, he was caught from behind again.
And off they went up the track.
Feeling sympathetic for Scot, these guys wrecked themselves out to give Mad Max some more positions.
And I too may have taken out some vengeance under caution. Driver's code, man.
In the end, it was The Bear who would hold on for his second win and he's moved up the order in the series.
Next is Scot's pick of Monsturd Truck Rally. I would have preferred Bone Crusher. But...meh.
