Pot Luck 2015 - 21-22 Dover

An unexpected full crew for Dover as many came around for what proved to be an overcrowded race track anyway.  Less than representative for the finer tracks we've been on (except for Zack) but plenty of good racing regardless.

Race 1:
Our back of humans was fairly well distributed around the field for the start, setting up the powder keg.

As predicted, things started off early, although we did not use our mulligan. Chad found himself out wide and in the wall.

He quickly remembered the wonders of sticky, tractor beam-like walls that have a tendency to toss you back into traffic.  He still managed to survive.

The next caution was Bear getting dumped in 4.

He somewhat harmlessly slid to the wall but the tightly packed bunch of cars behind and around him all bobbled into each other making a mess.

Zack was responsibly slowing to avoid wrecking when he got blasted by Hill from behind.

Caution number three was from a stupid set of AI led by Arnoux tangling into the fence.

Sandy found himself in trouble again after taking turn one too aggressively and running the apron.  That gave Fittipaldi clearance to tap his tire...

...and breed this acrobatic shit storm.  Darrel was in and promptly catapulted several AI many kilometers into the stratosphere.  Both humans were done.

A handful of laps after the green and Scot indirectly caused this wreck, though I'm not sure why.  Just AI freaking out and collecting one another.

We managed to get going again and the focus was on Will.  The guy who had been an observer of every wreck so far (and doing a fair job of missing all of them) found himself shoveled aside by the pisshead, Dan Wheldon.  Despite an amazing flip, Will kept running.

Until Chad got a hold of him some laps later.  This was a simple miscue but would end up taking Will to the wall and out.

With two left, Mark and I were at the front of the field with Stewart between us (a lap down).  We'd pretty much been this way the whole race and I didn't have much for him.  Still, it's never over until the end.

But Stewart wanted to make a fight of it and I gave him that, which inadvertently taken out Klein.  Meanwhile, Lauda snuck by as I lost speed and stole 2nd.  Bastard.

Race 2:
After a yellow filled Race 1, we dropped from 60 laps to a shorter 25.  With that, we saw some new players at the front with Darrel and Sandy putting down some strong times for qualy.

The start was very exciting as we got to see all the different gearing we were working with.

Sandy was attempting to keep high as Darrel and I got inside of him and got shunted into the wall.  Down but not out.

Again no mulligan but there would be a first caution.  It happened to be a few AI coming together.  Will had to pull in and park after this even though he wasn't involved.  Maybe had to boogie?

As we got going on the restart, there were a few lappers gaping Mark to me and Darrel.  The Wheldon duo started scrapping and Darrel and I scrambled to try and avoid them.

Darrel got twitchy with me next to him and got a wing caught on him by one of the drivers from behind.

It ended his and others races.  Zack got caught in it but wasn't hurt too badly.  Scot was being Scot.

Which probably didn't help him when Chad caught up after the restart.  This looks...familiar...

...as does this.  Dead.

We started again with only two laps to go and it was the Mark and Ross show again.  This time, Mark had minor wheel damage so there was a possibility that I could catch him.

After some bobbing and weaving, I didn't have much for him and the lovely number 4 gave me a tap.

So I tapped him back.  Actually, I was watching behind me and assumed the 4 had moved on and wanted to block.  Instead I just repeated the final lap of Race 1.  Except this asshole came back and took me into the wall with him.  Late 20s for me.

Chad felt sympathetic and well, got spun.  So I guess that wasn't really sympathetic.  Welcome back Chad!

And Mark won 2 for 2.

Next week we have Homestead with Day to Night transition.  Splendid.  And we will be gearing up for the AeroWar 88 series running Cup soon.  I'll check with everyone to see what numbers they want and so forth.  So look for that!
