'87 Winston Cup 2016 Series - 10 Talladega

So it seems I left for Vegas without posting Talladega's highlights so I'll have to double pack this weekend's posts with this one and Kansas.  Let's see if I can remember all the zaney memories from several weeks ago.

Things started off promising enough with humans up towards the front, except Scot.

It was not long before things got a little shaky in traffic and Darrel gently came rap tap tapping on the back of Ken Schrader's door.

That sent him into all the Cale Yarboroughs and Kyle Pettys.

This had the effect of only causing significant damage to the last 10 cars or so.

It was too early for pits, although all non-humans went in anyway.  So that had everyone right at the very front (except Scot) which meant it wouldn't be long before there was an accident.  Mr. Schrader somehow was up there and turned Sandy when he came slightly up the track.

He was hurt with a few others but still rolling.

Although, it did take a few out and cause a big mess.

That meant it was the Tnadz, Zack and Darrel show coming to pit road.

While Zack and I were first off pit road, we both completely blew the speed limit and were ashamed.

This meant Darrel now had the lead.

And Mr. Morgan Sheppard took him out.

He was hurt but STILL ALIVE!

Thanks to the way we worked pits stops, Zack and I were back at the top and cruising, picking off laps.

And then the dreaded green flag stop came along.  I was being slightly cautious and Zack twerked out of the way to avoid.

Dale Earnhardt did not and instantly became a marked man.

While I had no issues with pit road, besides repairing damage, I had a run in with Mr. Buddy Baker.  Seems AI were extremely disrespectful tonight.

The end to an otherwise great race.

Zack ended up grabbing gas and starting back with the wounded Myhr and Hamilton.

He worked his strategy and moved to first, tight on gas, while others pit.

With two to go, Scot was caught in a mess.

And rolled but stayed alive.

Not only living but finishing fairly well.  Wish I had this kind of luck.

And with a fairy tale ending, Zack rolled the win under caution with his commemorative paint job.  It's too bad the hood wasn't violently ripped and thrown into the crowd...I mean donated, as he originally planned.  But I suppose a victory will do.  Well done, and fairly good finishes all around.
