Twisted Metal 2017 - Dover Jump R37-39

We're really starting to circle the drain now as we recap the third-to-last track of the series.  And for many it was a shit show.

Race 1:
I'll take you through each one of our journeys here.  Zack started things off as he usually does by running at the top.

I stayed right behind him for a few exciting laps until we caught up to Scot who was having a moment.

And then we had a moment.

Zack fared a little worse than I did but he rolled back over and got going again.

But his bashing were not over.  He would have several more run ins throughout the race.  The AFC North would prove to be something of a thorn in his side.

Even their ring leader.

Zack didn't take long to get me back for the earlier thrashing, though I can't say he was wholeheartedly trying to do this.

But it seemed like two steps forward and one step back for the Chargers.

And coming up to Scot's little wreck about 10 laps into the race he found himself knocked around and upside down.

He then had some company while waiting to drive again.  More on that later.

Back out on the track and with a renewed sense of speed, he took to the field.

Much of his time was spent avoiding some close calls and watching his teammates fail him.

Other times he was playing bumper tag with Sandy and others.

Or flat out flattening others and launching them like a Frisbee.

Not all wrecks could be avoided like this one as Sandy found a popcorn mountain of cars popping around the track.

But even after that massive collection, Zack recovered quickly and sped on.

In the end, he managed to get back up to 10th and end the race in style.

My race was initially calm after Zack and I had our coming together.  But it wasn't long before collisions inevitably happened.

And it wasn't just with AI as Zack came back and slammed me around.

So I took it out on Sandy.

But mostly tried to target anyone I could get a hold of.  But in this case, I bit off more than I could chew comfortably and flipped.

Thus my rendezvous with Zack in the pits.

I spent a few more laps trying to gain positions but I couldn't help hitting others.  Again with Zack's team.  This wasn't even on purpose.

I did get some good shots in, like here on the Gamecocks.

Or when I slammed Darrel's Texans.

That got me round 2 in my stall for a slightly longer tow.

Back on the track I figured I wasn't going to make up much ground so I switched strategy and started violently attacking the competition.  Sandy, I think this is a good example of pitch pulling.

I even managed to take down Darrel again.  Well, his Texans.

Then Zack sideswipped me into the Buffalo Bills.

I wrecked into several others and flipped.

Tow #3.

Being the end of the race and little chance of improvement, I proceeded to wreck the bastards.  Every one of them.

Sandy's race was just as disappointing.  It started off promising enough with some smooth early wreck avoidance.

But then his game crashed and it was the back of the line.

He immediately took it out on Zack.

Unfortunately, I then hit him.

Much like Zack's race, Sandy was trying to avoid and move up.  But he found himself in hot water more often than note.  Also, pitch pulling.

But he got some good licks in.

Especially against Darrel's team.  There seemed to be an awful lot of that tonight for some reason.

Just when it was looking like he was starting to get a leg up on the field.

That leg was broken off and shoved clear through his spleen.

He did managed to slam the ever loving snot out of the Baylor Bears.

And cut through this hairball without distraction.

I mean this is what he saw and he went right through like it was nothing more than a light fog.  For all his efforts, he was well down the order from the earlier technical problems.

Scot started off just badly, wrecking right in the thick of things.

He then continued the trend.

Until the Trojans knocked him on his top.

A short tow...

...and back in the fight.  He was attacking Dolphins.

He was attacking (his own) Lions.

He was falling on other cars.

He was wrecking with humans and having fun.

Even lining up pool shots with Darrel's Colts.  Seriously, what is up with the Darrel-cide tonight?

Then, the dark cloud of consistency loomed overhead as this was another race with no damage.  And Scot had not been having great luck with surviving these races.  A tap from the Cornhuskers sent him into the fence.

The momentum loss brought the Trojans right in firing distance and they made hard contact.

While rolling through the air, he dropped his engine from 4th to 1st.

And it was dead.  And he was dead last.  For the 4th first race in a row without damage, Scot managed to kill himself.  Speechless.

Race 2:
30 laps (10 less than Race 1) and I was up to my old games of stopping at the start of the field.

It caused some havoc but mostly just hurt my team and spread out the field.

Scot had an early misfire on the front jump and pounded the wall hard.

I started honing in my hip-check technique.  Hmm, the Colts again.  Look at that.

Eventually, Zack, running 1st, caught the other two humans and they held formation for a bit.

Up the road, I was vertically challenged.

Which got us all in the same place for a short time.

Right after that, Sandy was assaulted in front of Zack.

As Zack, too, was hit from the side.

I was up the road slamming Purdue with my right rear.  I really got good with this tail wag maneuver.

They, in turn, got right in the way of Darrel's Titans.  I guess Darrel's team just isn't going to have a good night, huh.

Further along, Scot was getting tripped up by Sandy's Ravens.

And as I came around, the Saints slammed into them and stopped right in front of me.

It didn't turn out well for me.

Sandy and Scot were running close when they came up on my wreck.  In fact a little too close.

Scot sent Sandy into Nebraska and we all had a jolly bounce.

We both decided on a quick fix stop before proceeding.

I then bashed the absolute piss out of the Titans (again) while they were getting serviced.  How do those kicks feel?  You know, while you're down there and I'm kicking you...while you're down.

Zack was tearing around the track and turning out laps while almost turning himself over.  Sandy is unafraid.

Webster even managed to straight up take out Virginia Tech.

But in doing so botched his approach on the jump and wrecked hard.

Like very badly hard.

And was killed to death.

I wasn't doing much better with my new modified.  But it was still good enough to kick in the Colt's front teeth.  OK, it's getting pretty bad.

While much of the race was filled with crazy moments, I wanted to point out this amazing slide job that Sandy did off the jump where he slid past everyone's cars without touching or losing speed.

I was less graceful.

And that hit to the Green Bay Packers packed my engine into my passenger seat.  I pulled to the pits for repairs but it didn't look like they were coming out (even though the replay would show that they were going to fix it...bastards!).

So, instead, I started causing major destruction like a dying star, shedding parts of myself in my final death throws.

Scot was doing fairly well during all of this until he too ruined his approach on the front stretch hill and clobbered the outside wall, busting up his engine.

While he went for repairs, I went for broke.

And almost nearly got it.

But she still lives!

Repairs complete, Scot was back out there and immediately tried out his new hood on Darrel's Texans.

He managed to roll, right in front of his teammates.  How embarrassed they must be for you, Scot.

While on the hunt for a car to bury my blistered engine block into, the Jaguars decided to get some revenge.

And with my last ounces of energy I pulled into the first car I could find.  My Cowboys!

Sandy managed to stay in the whole race and finish just out of the top ten.

Scot also did better and capped out at 21st.

Race 3:
Things started off promising and I wasn't throwing up roadblocks this time.

That honor went to Zack who immediately attacked Darrel's Texans at the green flag drop.

But it didn't work out well.

And then this physics happened.

Dead before he crossed the line.  A "Provisional" as they call it.

And because the pack was dense, there was, of course, a wreck.

Scot managed to coast his way through unhindered.

Sandy was also doing well.

Until he didn't

But I was also sucking.

And even though I spiraled the car...

I kept it going and landed.

To the pits to pick up my modified.

Scot was there too getting repairs and tires.

For some reason, this race was giving Sandy a hard time.  In particular, the back jump.

This one did some damage.

And he watched his teammates go by in shame.  Mostly because they were running 1 and 2.

My modified complete, I was back on the track.

And someone nearly took me out flying by.  I'll remember you.

I forgot quickly and instead killed the Mountaineers.

Embarrassing himself again in front of his division.

He has no honor.  But some good traction control.

For my part I was assassinating NCAA members.  Taking them out at the knees faster then their universities could profit from their performances.

Then there was a challenge for 2nd place by the Jets.

Which I promptly killed.

Sandy was both admiring and concerned.  But not afraid.

My luck would have to run out and did when the Jets cut straight through the 49ers to get me.

It looked like the end...

...but I fired her up and made it to the finish.  Although, I sadly couldn't kill anyone at the line.  Very sad.

Sandy bagged some massive points by finishing well and seeing his Bengals and Steelers top the chart.  Scot also finished well with points from himself and his teammates.

We will hit a new one for the series, Marty Moville, next week.  The end is nigh...
