British Trucks 2018: 19-20 Gateway

Thanks to a wonderful update from Windows, there were several issues attempting to finish single races.  Darrel Hamilton actually had to excuse himself due to the time as did Myhr.  Slab was out this time.  The contract with Eggland's Best was suspended for this race so no footage was recorded.

Race 1:

20 laps and a rousing start as these three were sprinkled among the top 5, getting things dicey early on.

Webster and Smith weren't far back and looking to gain some ground.

Egg was putting pressure on Buster but started locking his rear tires through the corners.

While he wasn't loosing too much ground to the 8, he wasn't pulling away from the pack.

Eventually, he was caught and passed and Tnadz was there to do battle.

However, he continued to struggle with setup and continued to backslide.

As well as just slide.

Tnadz started reeling in GB.

But with only about 6 laps left, Webster flickered in and out and sent Paul Jones flying.

Along with himself as The Bear swept by on the inside.

On the restart with only a handful to go, Tnadz had to throw the brakes hard, narrowly missing the back end of Buster.

Paul Rocha was turning The Bear right at the same time, bringing out the caution.

Webster took advantage and dove low, making up a ton of spots.

However he had to give them back.  And to add insult to injury, he came upon a broken competitor and tried to get out of the way.

Which he did.

Gurton Buster then took another win right in a row under caution with Tnadz right behind.

Race 2:

The second race had to be shortened to 20 laps at 4x in order to get everything in.  But that didn't change the qualifying dynamics.  However, because it had gotten so late, Webster had to drop out.

Egg started off making things exciting.

Between these two, the field was 4-wide at the front.

There was a hairy moment when The Egg drifted up the corner, nearly taking out GB via Willis.

As Egg went after Buster, Tnadz was escorting a flagging Willis into the wall.

That caused him to lose momentum and resulted in some trucks accordianing back in the pack.

Tressler came up into Hawkins and that sent him up the track into others.

The Bear snuck through the melee without damage or losing spots.

At this point, all but the front runners and Sandy took to the pits.

Back under green and The Egg was aggressively going for the lead.

The Bear got hung out high and got loose off of turn two where Mel Gibbson was happy to knock him around.

As Tnadz was driving back to the yellow, he was tapped by Pab and sent to the back of the field.

The Egg was going hard after Buster but was experiencing similar issues from Race 1.

As Tnadz was trying to catch the back of the field from a poor pitstop, he caught The Bear who bounced off the front stretch wall, straight into him, taking them both out.

Only 3 laps of racing left under green.

Buster was holding the lead but because the 34 kept poking his nose on the inside line, he couldn't drive off the corner as hard as he wanted.

At one point, The Egg nearly had him but couldn't quite get the drive to complete the pass.

Down the order, Tnadz, with fresh tires, had caught the field and was making up as many spots as possible.

Getting desperate, The Egg was putting maximum pressure on Buster, but there wasn't a clear advance from either driver.

Tnadz was making his own war on the competition and turned Harris on the final lap.

The Bear came upon the wreck and couldn't avoid the mess as well as the other pileup, losing all but a couple spots.

In the end, Gurton Buster managed to pull away from The Egg out of the final corner and take another win.

The tour now moves on to Chicagoland.  Happy Memorial Day...er...Have a reverent Memorial Day?
