The series finally hits a non-1.5 miler and the racing was better than it has been all season. It's amazing what happens when the brake pedal has a role (besides avoiding wrecks). Twitch stream brought to you by Eggland's Best.
Race 1:
GB took the pole for the 38 lapper (although, until Scot and Webster showed up, he was not so fortunate).
While Egg made a dash for Buster and Zack worried about Tnadz causing a pile up in the top 10, Darrel was busy getting touchy with Vickers.
The two ended up in the wall and spinning, bringing out the first caution.
On the restart, Egg was chasing down the leader when Willis got a good run up the inside.
He gave The Egg a tap and sent him almost to the wall. But Egg kept it together and only suffered a loss of positions.
After some laps, things were starting to spread out. But it wasn't settling down as Smythe nearly had a crash with Tworz.
Same spot some laps later, Gut Slab was in among a rather racy battle.
Meanwhile, at the front, Gurton Buster lost the lead as Willis snuck down on the low side.
A few laps later and Vickers was getting run over by Mad Max, bringing out a yellow.
GB had managed to sling by on the low side to make a pass on the 65 to retake the lead.
On the restart, Tnadz was gunning for some quick positions when he made contact with Vickers. This would put him out of position and he'd end up losing spots from the lapper.
Just as he was trying to work himself out of that situation, Webster mad an oops through turn three right in front of Egg.
There was nothing between the two vehicles.
Coming to the line, Tnadz showed his frustration with the 147.
Unfortunately this slowed the rest of the field that was racing in and they stacked in front of Egg.
On the restart, GB worked his way around slow lappers to try and jump away from the field.
Egg was also trying to recover positions and get back up front.
Some laps later, Slab got into the 2 of Scholz.
While drivers scattered, a slowing Hamilton was struck by Yosh Hughes
And then slammed by Gruber Jr.
Going green, Egg had made some positions and was aggressively moving trucks out of his way to get back up.
The final yellow was from Mr. Smith as he got impatient with the Derpy Mail truck.
Closing in to end the race, Egg was putting pressure on the 8 of O' Regan while Dickson closed in on the inside.
While trying to block that pass from the 50, Egg got taken out but had already taken the checkered flag.
Up the order, Tnadz also had a race to the line. Like Egg, he also had a finish that was less than what it should have been.
Gurton Buster took yet another win, virtually unchallenged.
Race 2:
From 2x to 3x and 38 laps to 50. GB and Egg led off on the start and they made it very exciting.
Tnadz had a strong run into turn one but GB was taking it easy on the opening lap, causing a lockup that scared Webster and The Bear as they tried to settle into a groove.
That was short lived as O' Regan got inside of Webster and as he attempted to correct, rocketed straight up the track.
The Bear barely escaped disaster.
And it was a drag race to the line.
The next caution would come a lap after the first one as Tnadz got a nudge from Willis out of the corner and drifted up into Hawkins.
This caused a mild pile.
That turned into a moderate pile. The Bear was playing Where's Waldo in the middle.
Back racing and Egg was fighting Gurton hard for the lead.
Tnadz and the train were watching and also pushing to get into it.
After the two swapped lanes, GB drifted just slightly up the track and it was enough to just clip the 34, sending him wide.
That allowed for several positions to be lost yet again.
And then Willis did the EXACT same thing to him.
With more disastrous effects. But still green.
Back in the pack, the Hooters ride was giving Scot a similar treatment.
Adding insult to injury for Egg was when he was trying to simply regain some spots when these two made an egg sandwich. The Bear was concerned and ended up tagging the wall. Even Egg's avatar is looking over as if to say "WTF!".
But it wasn't any of those trucks to cause the next caution. It was Slab taking out Hill.
Time for a pit stop for tires and fuel.
Tnadz had yet another issue with the front runners and basically ran over Tressler coming off the corner.
Darrel who was racing (someone?) to the line came flying into Cooper and got the 37 as well.
While under yellow, GB lost internet and had to start at the back of the pack.
He then watched Darrel take out Scholz (his poor Heineken).
And there was nearly disaster between these three.
As Egg was trying to give room and GB was trying to gain spots, everyone got very close as Scot tried to avoid the 60. No caution and everyone kept it going.
Well, except Zack who was so enthralled with the action, he lost control of his truck and bowels.
On the restart, Tnadz tried to be cheeky and get a run up the middle, but felt like Egg several laps earlier and lost spots.
The next yellow was care of Hamilton as Smythe got him in the corner panel.
Unlike his miss on Zack early in the race, he got smacked hard by the Doritos truck.
That sent the 21 down hard into Cooper, right in front of Egg.
Under caution, Egg was just minding his own business when Cooper started taking him out. Probably for driving his truck in practice.
And the Scholz rolled him over! I guess Scholz was tired of being a punching bag and decided to make scrambled eggs. The Egg had a short meeting with the 24 afterwards.
With his sights set on first place, Tnadz was attempting to pass the 27 of Mel Gibson when the two touched.
Tnadz tried to catch it and that's when the 27 rode him up to the wall.
Buster, who had fresh tires and a fresh truck, came flying up the inside and may have prevented Tnadz from careening down the track. It was a bit of a tumble-dry moment.
Running out of laps, Hamilton took out Tworz again. The 2 may have been looking to come to the pits but this was a fairly straight forward spin out.
And even though the race finished under yellow, the humans at the back seemed to have some trouble making it across the line in proper order.
Time to see if Gateway can make for as interesting a set of races.
