British Trucks 2018: 27-28 Pocono

The series starts to move beyond its equinox and goes to the cool pines of Pennsylvania at Pocono.  Despite the serene setting, there was plenty of action on track.

Race 1:

Buster managed another pole as he found a very fast line around the track.  But in a crowd, the pressure was on with three humans in tow and a Bear not far behind.  This was the second attempt at 15 laps as the first one ended in tragedy (but was a WAY more intense start).

The Bear quickly had issues as he caught the wall in two and basically went to the back.

Seconds before this, Slab (driving for Riggleman) was getting punted by Rocha into Gruber.  No caution.

Darrel also had issues as he was shuffled to the outside and mostly freight trained for a lap.

Eventually, The Bear got entangled with Rocha and Hillseheim after coming off the wall again, this time collecting Zack and absolutely smashing the inside safer barrier.

Despite the hit, he managed to keep going.  But hopes of a win were dashed.

Back under green, and GB still had company.

Hamilton suffered a similar fate to his mountain buddy coming off of turn two and then getting collected by Rebrov.

Webster also had an accident with only a few to go, as he simply lost it into three.

Then he got whacked by Darrel.

And again by Slab.

That wrapped up the race under yellow with another win for Buster.

Race 2:

Double distance at 30 laps and the front was similar to Race 1, this time with Webster right there.

It would only take one turn for things to go wrong though as Willis tucked his nose into Tnadz's lane and sent him into the wall.

Which took him out of the running along with most of the front runners.

The pits then got busy.

And became a dangerous place to be for everyone.

Several laps later, The Egg suffered a similar fate as Paul Jones took a fender to him.

Like Tnadz he caught some air and collected some trucks in his wake.

Then was righted by Scholz.

Buster then took his stop.

Several laps of fairly mundane racing went by.  The Egg managed to climb the order a bit and was peeking at the top 20.

The Bear had another incident, this time with Thiele sending him down the track...

...and into his favorite wall.

More pit stops.  The Egg was nearly cut short by Shorter as he tried to cost through his stall.

On the restart, Slab was back in it and making a challenge for the front...though from several laps down.

Sadly, The Egg's progress was blunted and reversed by Pab in the tunnel turn, sending him for a lazy spin.

Scholz somehow got involved again and nearly took out a few human racers.

Coming to the green, there was a new leader, Zack Webster.  This was a slight of hand as he stayed out and was quickly overtaken by less damaged trucks.

With five to go, Tnadz lost control in turn three.

Which gave Gurton another easy win under yellow.

Next week is Michigan before a 4th of July break.
