The series now sunsets on the most destructive and trouser staining track of the entire lineup: Destruction Arena. This massive figure-8 was the stage set before a closely contested title run predominantly between Tnadz, Webster and The Egg. Although, there were a few outliers with the potential to capitalize, such as Hamilton, who was drawn as one of the wild cards to face off against Mad Max for the balance of 12 points for whoever could have the most survivors.
Race 1:
Buster started off the bad luck train by dropping a piston part way through. Tnadz and Gut Slab ran into several early collisions and tried to settle into an offensive strategy against all the serious racers. Along with The Bear, the all hovered at the back half of the field. The Egg had a ferocious crawl to the front of the grid and was fighting for the lead when he had an accident, knocking him back to 5th. In the end, it was Hamilton who had the most luck and skill to just limp home to the win. Despite no damage, Darrel's Titans died and put him behind Scot by a point for the Wild Card.
Race 2:
Gurton Buster's bad luck carried over into the half-length, moderate damage race and he was dead on the first of his 20 laps. Gut Slab also had a mediocre finish, dead outside of points. The Egg had a good showing but a late-race accident killed his hopes and dreams. The Bear and Hamilton hung in until the end and had a great battle of pace, both finishing just outside the top 10. But it was Tnadz who got lucky and avoided the crashes to finish 3rd and highest for humans. Despite Slab's rough go, two of his teammates took 1st and 2nd. Going into the final round, Darrel and Scot were tied for most survivors.
Race 3:
Tnadz and Egg were hoping for big points to try for one last lunge at the title but both died, right around 20th together. Gut Slab managed to complete half of the 20 laps but also succumbed to damage in the most blunted ways. The Bear had a terrific showing and pulled off a 7th with his Steelers stealing 5th from GB who died late in the race. But it was Hamilton who grabbed the highest spot for humans, just getting on the podium behind Slab's Gators and Bulldogs.
In the end, only 5 points separated the top 3 with Hamilton and Gut Slab not far behind. The Egg fell from grace to a 3rd while Zack and his mostly absent approach scored him just one point ahead. Tnadz barely retook the lead in the final round for the championship win. Well done to everyone.
