2020 Super Speedway Series - Round 1: Daytona Night

The first two races of the season kicked off with fanfare and frantic driving.  In keeping with tradition, the series started with Daytona Night.

Race 1:

The sprint run started with players all at the front.  Things got a touch dicey as The Bear got a tap while fighting for 3rd.

While it was the only wreck in the race, it was a doozy.

Getting stuffed into a car burrito, the incident rolled up The Egg, Gut Slab and Darrel Hamilton.

Tnadz and GB were running the show up front when a bit of bump drafting got too bumpy.

Webster brought up the rear of the survivors and managed to work his way into 2nd.  When the trio was trying to clear a lapper, Tnadz lost some speed and fell back coming to the white flag.

Zack tried to have a go at the end but wasn't able to improve his runner-up position as Zolecki took the first win.  Tnadz was able to just barely claw back 3rd with a photo finish.

Race 2:

From 10 laps to 30, the second race was full of some interesting interactions.  Sadly, the replay was lost due to a freak race restart right at the end.  Luckily Egg saved the day and quickly grabbed the results.  The quick summary is the start was similar with the familiar racers at the front but not for long.  Hamilton had to drop out due to graphics issues (Daytona SDT has issues with Nvidia cards apparently) but not before taking out The Bear.  Gut Slab had Slab Time.  Tnadz was wrecked while under caution.  The Egg had several questionable black flags.  At the front, Webster and Jamie swapped places and fought to checkered flag.  Both are now tied at the top of the board.

The first round down, on to sharp banks of Riki Raceway.
