Sadly, the replays were deleted before I could grab screenshots. But the live stream sums up the experience. Going into the final round of the season and it was basically a mad scramble for the top position between all the teams. Only Mad Hatters had an outside chance while everyone else was covered by no more than 2 points. An X Factor could shake things up, the wildcard could cause a major shuffle, it was staged for a perfectly chaotic finish...and it was. The criteria was most top 5 finishers.
Race 1:
No damage and 40 laps lasted a while and there was much changing in position. Zolecki and Webster both had shots at the top, with Jamie leading a good amount until he just barely got in trouble. With Gut Slab running as rear gunner for the team, Egg shot to the top with Tnadz in hot pursuit. However, The Egg was untouchable for the back half of the race and took a win with Tnadz in 3rd. Know U 2 was starting on the backfoot.
Race 2:
Incidentally, the race ran twice as long and with even moderate damage, the extra 20 laps proved survival is not very likely outside the usual 20. Gut Slab knocked quite a few team cars out, limiting who would take positions and points. Zolecki took out the Buckeyes, scooting them just to 6th by the end. The Mad Hatters then gained 2 top 5s as Mad Max died just inside of 5th and Crimson Tide circled around with Gut Slab until the end. Gut Slab finished 10th after hanging around the infield for most of the race, letting attrition take hold. Know U 2 would need some points by the end or things will go pear shaped.
Race 3:
Several cars were out within the first 10 laps. By the end, it was just Zolecki leading the way and barely avoiding some cross traffic. He was joined in the top 5 by teammate, Clemson Tigers. Tied with Mad Hatters, there would be no points exchanged. But of the others? Well, Gut Slab made a play to knock out the Red Skins, forcing them to 6th and costing The Black Smiths 12 precious points, awarding them to KU2. The Bear was too far back after suffering through much of the race and just couldn't make it up or take out others before the end. Gut Slab and Egg were also killed along the way. Scot ended up making it all the way, scoring 12 points for his team and taking them from Know U 2. However, they still had more than I'll Kill You and stole their points as well. Once again, Know U would take the championship in a tactical slug fest.
This season was well played and very interesting with some great battles. The new formula proving it works to keep things pretty close, despite major setbacks throughout. The next series will go back to roots with the NASCAR Cup.
