Twisted Metal 2017 - Bone Crusher R28-30

The penultimate figure 8 of the season is Bone Crusher.  And many bones were crushed.  The points standings continue to be a thing of interest with everybody still in contention (although it's getting less likely for some).

Race 1:

20 laps and Moderate damage to kick things off as usual.

Humans started in the back and began the difficult process of working up through the field with fewest instances of regret.

There were some close calls along the way.  With a comfortable lead in points, my mission was mutually assured destruction.  I was on the hunt for NCAA teams.

Sandy was mostly staying conservative but did wind up hit in the cross over and in a potential position for a black flag DQ.

He smartly called a tow.

Scot was performing as usual with a flare and unbelievable luck through the intersection.

But even he couldn't be spared and was juts tipped aside by Zack's Chargers (he was out tonight).

I too was involved in some very exciting collisions at the center.

But despite the extreme nature of the hits, I managed to survive.

Which was useful to my cause.

Sandy got back on track but couldn't keep away from some of the other AI.  After a dodgy move at the intersection, he was badly aligned on landing and stuck it on the end of pit road.  Oops.

Scot also had his moments.  He managed to fling himself into the air after catching a pretty large bump at the jump.  Things were starting to get rocky.

For me, the NCAA teams were striking back.  The Nittany Lions were cutting me off and tossing me into the wall.  They are dead.

Scot's luck eventually ran out as he clobbered his poor lions, ending his race after he was nearly in the lead with only a few to go.

I continued my campaign of carnage as the laps dwindled.

Sandy was again on pit road but still maintaining decent position due to the high attrition rates.

On the last laps of the race, I eyed the leader, NCAA team: Spartans.

I showed them that this was not Sparta.

And at the end, I attacked Rob's Rams as they were going to take the lead.  But they managed to not only continue on but win the lead and the race right when it counted.  Previously I showed that they were dead but on review, they legitimately finished the race in 1st, still running.  The rest of us had decent top 20s and better.

Race 2:

Same start as Race 1 except Rob joined us as well as the wall.

The starting pile-up was also the same.

Scot celebrated Rob's return with a lovely kick in the side.

But it didn't help him or me as we got blasted at the intersection.

While I was dead, Scot survived with major damage.

Rob was setting up for a good run when he got waled by Darrel's Texans.

It was very quickly and very much over for Rob on his first race back.  Thanks, Darrel.

Bear was struggling with traffic again as he got hip checked by the Hokies.

And he made major contact with pit road wall and the Badgers.

He managed to survive and came back out swinging.

And got swung.

Then DQed for driving backwards even though he wasn't.  I made sure he retained his position points even though he probably could have earned several more.

Recovered, Scot turned several more laps before getting into trouble again and rolling the car.

His crew still managed to find enough scrap metal to keep his car running and he was back out on the track.

With a top 10 firmly in his grasp and a potential top 5 not far off, Scot committed suicide.

By not paying attention and slamming into a barrier wall that no one really hits on their own.

Dead for sure.

Which left no humans and few teammates scoring points allowing West Virginia to take the win.

Race 3:

Final round and damage was full.  Laps down to 15.

And Rob was scared.

While Sandy backed off, Scot and I looked for a hole and punched through.

He had early issues as the Chiefs got him in the side.

Rob had another short race as he slammed the Badgers and rolled.

Right behind him, Zack and Darrel's avatars were taking each other out.

The Texans survived long enough to kill themselves on the end of the wall also taking out my Cowboys.

Sandy and I had a family meeting and he ended up leaving the race afterwards.

I immediately got jacked up by the Packers as they blundered pit entrance.

Scot was out there flying like an eagle and barely missing cars.  Truly in his element.

But all those landings were causing damage so he got that fixed.

I joined him just after to get my tire replaced.

While running around on the track, Scot had some close calls.  Made even closer when he was in contact with several cross cars.

I continued my assault on NCAA teams and the terrible Lions.

Scot was able to see some of this in action.

I then went after the Hokies who were leading the race.

While doing so, Scot nearly ended himself on pit road entrance.

I was just thrashing the Virginians.

We had some spinning moments.

And both got going.  They nearly got away from me.

But I landed on them in the intersection and crushed their hopes for a win.

Scot, again, saw the devastation I left and moved up in position.

While winding down the laps, he kept barely avoiding contact.

Mostly with the South Carolina Game Cocks and a few others.

But he couldn't help himself and eventually landed on them.

But the race was over so it was no matter.
