Twisted Metal 2017 - GNC Carnival R25-27

The third Wild Card race of the season takes place here at GNC Carnival and it's Darrel vs Ross.  While it would have been a great shake up, Darrel was absent for the race.  The Wild Card criteria?  Most Wins.

Race 1:

I started off in good position on the pole.

Zack and Sandy were towards the back fighting through piles of people.

Sandy had some early missteps but managed to get back on his wheels.

Zack was largely unmolested through the first portion of the race, just making up positions.  However, he landed on Da Bears.

And had his first round of major struggles.

You'd think I'd be home free from my starting position but no.  While attacking Da Bears, I got stuck on the flags to pit road.  Luckily, the tow was short and I didn't lose any positions.

However, my aggressive tactics got me in hot water again as I tried to take out the Seahawks and got sideways.  Like, on my side.  I had to call a tow and fell to 11th.

Once out I charged back to the front as quickly as possible, knocking cars out of the way.  Sorry.

And in a dramatic last lap pass, I slammed the utter loving crap out of the Boilermakers, taking them out of 1st and knocking them way down the order as they called for a tow truck and their mommy.

I took the win with Zack picking his way to 10th and Sandy staying cool and collected for a top 20.

Race 2:

Race 2 was similar to the first.

Zack and Sandy in the back.  I can't remember if it was this one where we had a server crash that wiped out his 2nd place start and requalifying went badly.

Regardless, a messy start was the result.

And it didn't go well from there.

Sandy was slow and steady again at the start, watching friends and foes wreck on pit wall.

Zack continued the struggle to keep his car on the track.

It wasn't going well.

I managed to catch up and immediately bumped Sandy into the wall.  Sorry.

Zack had a near miss as he went wide and had to take pit road.  Coming back into traffic could have been bad if he were faster or I slower.

He did seem to get quite racey after that and nearly got into me a few times while shooting some of the jumps and saying "to hell" with moderate damage.

Sandy then started getting wrapped up in other people's business.

The tight confines made it difficult but he managed to work it out in all cases.

Zack continued his pursuit and caught me after an error.

Upon catching myself, I had a strong run out of the corner where I approached too quickly and we made contact.

And then proceeded to turn a simple issue into a major one.

But we got it sorted in short order.

And then Zack made his own error.

Sandy's friends, the Cardinals came back and turned him.

Allowing my team to run a train on him and flip his car.

His Bengals weren't much help either.

At lap 7 of 15, all three humans were in close proximity.  Dangerous.

Closing in on the end, Zack managed to clobber the fence after landing too far to the left and had to get a tow.

When he came out he was ferociously attacking the field.

With his new modified.

On the last lap, my Cowboys rolled off of turn one and I just smacked my hood into them, causing smoke to start leak out from the bonnet.

Zack and Sandy actually made up some ground and got decent top 20s.

I took a second win without getting a black flag, thus securing my Wild Card win and 12 points for the team.  Sorry Darrel.

Race 3:

Final set of 15 laps and damage was full.  Zack did have a chance at 2nd but because this track hates full damage we had to restart and knock damage back to Moderate.

For me, there wasn't too much going on.  I did have a few moments.

I did kind of smash Scot into the wall.

I watched Zack have some moments.

And then won.

Sandy had an even less exciting race although it did have some oddities.

He also managed to get into Zack a few times through the laps but they were minor scratches.

I managed not to hit him when I went to pit road at one point, using the relative safety of the stretch to preserve his car.

His Bengals disappointed him again.

And even though he was passed quite a bit, he was still gaining positions.

But not all was happy days.  Baylor, the impostor bears, spun him.

But he managed a good finish and stayed relatively undamaged.

Zack had a bit more excitement in his run.  Avoiding obstacles early was par for the night.

He was doing that pretty well until he was caught in a Panthers and NY Giants sandwich.

Which managed to get him completely spun around and everyone else forward.  Precious seconds were lost.

During many segments of the race, we were around each other again but managed to keep from killing one another.

I'll note he also knocked Scot around.

While I was chasing him around, he got into the back of my Philly Eagles as they were just stopped.  Strange.

While driving down the laps, he saw that his team wasn't going to be much help to him.  It was up to Zack to bring home the points.

And he would have had a 5th or better had he not puckered himself onto the notorious flags.  An 8th is all he could bring up in the end.  Certainly better than it could have been but worse than it should have been.  Slowly shake my head.

Well, Darrel hadn't fallen completely to last after the points deduction.  However, after the boat anchor, he now shares that honor with the other NFL team that has no humans on it.  He's got some work to do.  And Bone Crusher is known for shaking things up.
