Twisted Metal 2017 - Humpty Dumpty R31-33

It's juts one insane track after another.  This one saw us get one of our worst finishing averages ever as a group.  But it wasn't all bad.

Race 1:

Zack and I managed to get a good starting position and lead the field into the inevitable.

That said, turn one and two weren't as bad as they typically are.

Rob took advantage of the relatively clear track and started laying waste to those around him.

Zack was so impressed, he wrecked himself.

While he managed to recover, it wasn't long before he found himself upside down.  This would be the theme of the rest of his race.

Rob was doing well gaining spots and staying mostly out of trouble but a spin on his own and a few other mishaps lead to him falling down the order.

Scot, too, was struggling with traffic.  While he generally was giving back as much as he was getting, it wasn't a very successful finish for him.  Because he, once again, managed to kill his invincible car.  That's three in a row.  Speechless.

Things started well for me but I screwed up my own race by wrecking on my own.  Back in the mix, I tried switching strategies and, like Scot, I was losing more than gaining.

Not to say there weren't fun and exciting moments like when I joined in on a Zack sandwich.  We all survived this actually.

Scot and Rob managed to take each other out as well.  Sandy, seen down in the corner continued on just trying to stay out of the way.

Darrel was getting grief just as much but it was a little better than some of the races he's had.  Not good, but not terrible.  In the end, we had an average finish just south of 40th place.  Humans filled out the bottom of the barrel except Sandy who managed a 34th.

Race 2:

Race two I was up front alone and damage was set to Moderate.  We reduced laps from 30 to 20 as time was getting short.

Again, the wrecking was minimal at the start but still exciting.

The humans in the back were coming around for lap two when Scot had a slide in front of them.

This would not end well for all of them.

Scot was very upside down and Zack had a rumpled roof.

I caught up with Darrel who was still avoiding the wreckage of others.

Scot finally got going again and immediately started in to killing his competitors.

Darrel did eventually run into issues but still survived.

While enjoying a lead and terrorizing AI, I too lost it in one while screwing around.

The Bear was also affected by wayward vehicles.

But then he and Darrel were locked in a war for position while slalom-ing cars trying to extricate themselves from themselves.

Coming to the last laps, I tried screwing up the leader and screwed up myself.  I'd fall back to 5th but Killed the Buccs just before the end.  Sandy moved into 18th with Darrel not far behind in 21st.  Scot managed a 31st considering early difficulties and Zack moved into 25th despite his bent A-rails.

Race 3:

Again by myself at the front.

And this time there was a nasty wreck at the start.

But humans were safe and clear.

Until I got there.  After rounding turn one I came up on a much slower Rob.

I couldn't stop in time and it wasn't good for him.

And it got worse.

I barely avoided doing the same to Scot.  Only a few more humans ahead of me now.

I nearly hit Darrel as well.

Sandy started in on the competition...

...but it backfired.

He tried it again in front of Darrel.

It worked until he was run over by VT.

I wasn't the only one.  Scot came over turn two and hip checked Zack.

That caused him to graze the bails and it was over.

But he made sure to take some with him.  Good man.

Sandy was in for pits and not because he was about to die.

When he returned, he had another crack at the AI and rammed the Saints up in front of me.  Good man.

Scot was doing better than previous races but eventually got taken out.

He too dragged some of the aggressors with him to the garage.

I got back in first and selectively targeted NCAA teams.

But in attacking the Boilermakers, I too ran afoul on the hay bails and the car was reduced to rubble.

Rubble with inertia that I used to hit Zack's Raiders.

AND immediately his Broncos.

The Bear lived and earned a good 22nd.

But the real winner was Darrel.  No, he didn't win but he did survive and place 8th.  Well played.

We go to our next Wild Card at Indy Wave where Zack and Sandy will go head to head.  Oh boy.
