Pot Luck 17 - R37-38 Mosport

The series takes a trip up north of the border for the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (Mosport).  A fast favorite of many despite some unfortunate outcomes for some.

Race 1:

With a rolling start and only GB and Tnadz required to start at the back, three humans qualified on the front two rows.  Things started out quite aggressive.

Almost through the first lap and Darrel Hamilton had been slipping back in positions until he was finally turned about by everyone's favorite, Max Wilson.

The spin itself was harmless but it was when the Dollar General car gave Buster's ride a hug that things went sideways.

Hamilton was out immediately with GB badly damaged and somewhat off pace.  Still, there was a chance that his incredible lap times could still make him competitive, even in this shape.

Tnadz was taking no risks and punched on ahead, leveling some of the competition in the process.

Buster had another altercation at the same time as Slab going through the Table Top.

While he managed to keep running, the aero and chassis were ruined, causing him to fly off course.

While he still struggled on (and likely had a chance at the win), Tuka Rocha struck the death knell sending Gurton into the tires.

At the front, Zack Webster and Mark Riggleman (Jr no dot) were playing a casual game of cat and mouse.  Webster was staying within about a second give or take, ticking down laps and preparing himself for a fight at the end.

But as they were turning quick laps, they caught lap traffic.  Webster started sliding coming over the hill.

As he corrected, he went to much and the car was thrown wide into the barrier.  While he survived for several more laps, it died with one to go.

With breathing room, Mark had a straight shot to the end but got wide at the carousel.

Unfortunately there were devastating tires off that turn as well and he hurt the top end.

Eventually, Tnadz caught up and was simply looking to pass but there was traffic with Caca Bueno.  The two touched and Riggleman was sent wide.

As he touched the grass, the car got loose and he only just managed to swing it back the other way, avoiding a collision with Tnadz.  Like Zack, he too would lose the engine just before the end.

Tnadz went on to finish out the race by keeping it steady for an unlikely win.

Race 2:

With nearly all success ballast lifted, there were humans at the front.  This time, Riggleman and Buster would square off.  Darrel had a choppy qualifying and wound up 7th on the grid.

Which very quickly became worse as he slid off track and rebounded off of the tires in turn two.

Webster had a crushing qualifying run and had to start in the back where he and Tnadz aggressively marched up the order.

At the front, the two hot rods faced off and quickly broke from the field.

After a couple laps, Webster was caught on Khodair which opened a gap for Tnadz to slip by.

Gut Slab was oddly spending most of the time either in the pits or right outside of pit road.  Perhaps he was eating ice cream?  In any case, he was sporting the number 11 car for this round.

After a blistering 1:13.4 lap, Mark was maintaining a striking stance and keeping Gurton on his toes.  But it all came undone as the back end stepped out in turn two, destroying his front end and another chance at the win.

The nail was firmly set when he ran it out at the approach to the last corners and rolled it.  Good work, cameraman.

Webster also had a repeat from race one while dealing with traffic and was taken out at the table top.

Slab did eventually get back on track but things weren't going terribly well.

And then they got worse as Brito made contact and helped him try out for the Long Jump competition.  He didn't get a second try.

About the same time, Hamilton also binned it coming off the tricky turn two.

Tnadz once again was looking for consistent pace which brought him up to second.

But with no errors and plenty of speed in his laps, Gurton Buster took home another victory.

While Max Wilson's lead is slowly diminishing, it's still quite large.  And while Tnadz has a marginal gap, the race for second is very close.  With only 5 tracks left in the season, it should be a nail bitter.  On to Mark's pick: Silverstone GP (Present, the full enchilada)
