The end is nigh!  The finale is here.  The final rounds of Bristol were both controversial and full of some hard racing.

Race 1:

Zolecki kicked off the night leading well up the track from pole ahead of The Egg, Tnadz and Slab who were well further down the order.

The fast 25 lap sprint didn't stay green long as Slab got entangled with the 57 which was smooshed into the wall by Egg, battling for position.

Tnadz was the next victim, getting weight shifted off the corner by the 50.

Slab had a similar incident not much later on.

Coming to the end, The Egg was bajaing it down the backstretch off of competitors, fighting to stay pointed straight.

With his competitors struggling down the order, Jamie rolled to an easy win.

Race 2:

Orders were shifted for the second sprint as Slab stole the pole with Tnadz close behind.

Playing the nice guy card after getting tail-happy, he let Tnadz and Zolecki by.

The two speedsters fought aggressively but as Tnadz tried to correct a wiggling race car, Zolecki was attempting to run a low line pass and the two crossed swords.

As the two spun and scrambled to recover positions before the yellow, Jamie got into the 4 of Saylor.

He was bounced up the track and then back into traffic.

Ungluing himself from the wall, the car over rotated right in front of The Egg who, from his perspective, felt it was a personal affront and burned with the hate of a thousand suns.

Even as the two rolled together.

The Egg continued on but Zolecki was pretty dead with championship hopes not far behind.

 

Slab was pursuing Earnhardt when he got loose off of two.

Bouncing across the nose of the 83, he launched sideways and survived a hit with the inside wall.

He even came back to hip check the 50.

This lead to a large pileup which captured the 013 of Tnadz, causing some extravagant damage.

He later pulled a similar move on the 24.

This lead to a moment.

Of which Tnadz was again involved.

Sandy came in to get involved, crushing some crush panels on the Planet Fitness ride and helping to bring Zolecki back into the points potential.

While not for the win or even a top ten (though a respectable 12th), Slab finished in style.

Race 3:

Race 3 should be prefaced.  While initially intended as a 100 lap shootout, things fell apart rather quickly.  Tnadz and The Bear were out almost immediately after several restarts and confusion.  The Egg suffered major damage as did Zolecki.  The two were still in it but The Egg sought retribution for the perceived slight from earlier in the night, thus ending all effective humans racing.  After a rage quit and Slab back from Slab time, the remaining humans opted for a half distance finale of 50 laps.  Jamie took the pole with Tnadz and Slab not far behind.

Pearson checked up appreciably (yet unappreciated) in front of Tnadz, sending the two into the wall with big damage.

 

He brought out a caution not much later on as the two came to blows again.  Tnadz vented his entire season of frustration with the 21 in a single blow.

Gut Slab was making head way when he tank slapped onto the back stretch.

He found friends.

He and Zolecki were up the order when he lost it again, barely missed by the 008.

Coming to the end of the race with all humans down half field, a large moment (caused by AI) unfolded.  Our heros proceeded to dip, dodge, duck, dive and dodge around flailing vehicles.

Smith tried to go high around a pile when he was knocked down the track by a Slab who had no where to go, already pressed to the wall.  And with that, Jamie finished 9th, just not far enough ahead of Tnadz to clear the points gap.  Perhaps if the initial race had completed, he might have claimed more of a separation.

The world may never know.

But what we do know is Twisted Metal season officially begins next week with new rules and layouts that should be VERY exciting and (as always) destructive.
