2020-3 Whelen Modified Series - Round 5: Oulton Park "Fosters"

The races tonight had many twists and turns that have crafted a very close finish for the top three going into the final 3.

Heat 1:

The first run was fairly banal.  Tnadz held a decent margin over the field after taking pole.  Zolecki had several misfortunes.  Egg moved up into the teens and The Bear was not last.

Heat 2:

Zolecki was the one to beat as he held an impressive lead over the field for a dominating win.

The Egg had a decent finish just outside the top 5 (thanks to Slab), allowing him to qualify for the Main.

Main:

The first several laps were a close contest between The Egg and Tnadz who were nearly inseparable.  Tnadz had an off at Foster's, handing the the lead to Egg.

Egg sent it back to Tnadz after going wide at Druids and slapping the wall.  However the damage didn't seem enough to keep him out of the chase as the two ran within a second of each other into the final laps.

Penultimate lap and Tnadz made a pass through T1 on a lapper.  The lapper decided he wanted to ram Tnadz and sent him off into the wall, and spun him back the other way when the 13 recovered.

With the win nearly in hand, Egg just had to keep it on track to stay on track for the victory.  But a massive lockup into Fosters sent him sailing into the barriers.

A stunned Zolecki went on to take his second victory of the night and closed up the gap in the championship.  A ways off but not out, he looks at the two leaders, Tnadz and Egg who are separated by 2 points going to the final round at Martinsville.
