Twisted Metal Tour 2020

The Draft and the Season

The highly anticipated Twisted Metal Tour is upon us and there are big changes.  Teams are reduced to 4 drivers each (9 teams total).  4 teams with 2 human co-captains.  Each human picks 2 football teams (NCAA or NFL).  Drivers may trade teams/divisions up until the first round.  Drivers can race with any car on their team of 4 cars.  There are now SEVEN appointed X Factors.  More below

The goal: Have the division with most points (not individual driver points).

Race Groups
The series will span 15 rounds: 45 races on 15 different tracks.  Every round will consist of three races at the same track with damage typically progressing after each race.

20:00~20:20 = Race 1

Note: Only the top 3 scorers per team have their position points counted (all bonus points earned by team members will be retained)

Award Points
Lead a Lap: 1
Lead Most Laps: 1
Heart Breaker (most positions lost): 1
Diehard Race (lowest placed car still running): 1
Hard Charger (most positions gained): 1

Boat Anchor Bonus:  The last place team in the standings at the end of each round will receive 4 bonus points.  This is calculated after all other points are calculated.

X Factor:  If the X Factors place 1st in any of the 3 races of the night, the team in 1st place of the standings (after all points have been tallied for the night) shall have their points halved and that value will be awarded to the team in last.  If there are ties, points are awarded or removed for all the teams holding the last and first positions respectively.

Wild Card
Every 3rd round is a Wild Card round.  During the wild card, two player teams are randomly selected to compete head to head.  The winning criteria is randomly selected before the first race of the night and can be one of the following results from the competing teams:
  • Most wins
  • Most top 5s
  • Most top 10s
  • Most surviving members
  • Most awards (including Boat Anchor, excluding Lead a Lap)
The winning team will receive 12 bonus points while the losing team will lose 12 points.  In the case of ties, no points adjustments are made.  

For the final round of the series, the team that is in first place well compete against all other human teams, 1 on 1.  This means that the leading team could potentially win (or lose) 36 points, while the other teams are only able to win/lose12 max should they defeat the lead team in the challenge.

Rules
  • AI will not be punished for "Cheating" or cutting corners, however, players may be docked points and/or DQed for purposely cheating
  • Regular black flags will apply.  I will attempt to clear if penalties are unclear/out of driver's hands.  Damaged car black flags will not be cleared.
  • If DQed, all position points are revoked unless DQ was deemed accidental/ unavoidable (outside of driver's control)
  • No restarts except for technical problems
  • Players must maintain their line and pace without contact until crossing the S/F line.  A driver may not target another human player (deliberately making contact/wrecking) until after completing a lap.
  • Drivers may continue to maneuver on track, even if their car is disabled.  However, if you're unable to finish, you will be DNFed.
  • If your car is disabled in your pit stall, you must retire as this is considered a DNF.  In rare events when your car receives service (is repaired or tires changed) and is not released from the stall, you will not be counted as a DNF (a rare bug, and not the same as receiving service and then getting wrecked before being released) but will receive whatever position/points you hold as of Official Results being declared.
  • Rules & points may be revised at any time during the championship in the interest of competition (Jr/France rule)
Missed Races
When a player misses a race, their car will be controlled by an AI teammate.
